I am new to your site and I will pass that site along to other mothers I have come across in the last three years who struggle with this, so under researched, problem. Thank you for starting this. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Well the more I read what you all are saying the harder I cry. I have been dealing with alone for three years (please see intro). I am so relieved to hear that no one has been able to figure this monster out. I have felt so inadequate as a mother because my child wouldn't eat, keeps loosing weight, is loosing her teeth and associate throwing up from illness as chokeing from food. I thought that maybe it was my fault or that I had done something to creat such sever behavior problem such as an food oversion.

I have a question. Both my daughter and son have constipation horrabley. Is this commom with refluxy children. I can't ever get a same answer twice regarding this.

We are also headed to the gastro tomorrow. I am so sleep deprived I can't even think of what to say to the man.

Oh my goodness, I wish you would've found Shae's site years ago. You should really read the book I wrote, I think that you would relate to soooo much that is in it.

Anyway, as far as the constipation, it's not really reflux related but I think that when you have a child that has reflux this severely it can be associated. GERD is a gastro intestional disease and so, I think that it could just be that the entire GI tract is just not quite up to par. Does that make sense? Shae also has a very difficult time with her BM's a lot, her GI suggested Milk of Magnesia and thankfully that seems to help some. Another thing to ask about is Colace.

The best thing to do is start making notes when you think of questions you want to ask the GI and that way you won't forget anything. I had to start doing this with Shae's doctor's b/c I'd leave the office and think of a half dozen things that I forgot to touch on.

My biggest question would be why does she have such dental enamel erosion while on a PPI? If her teeth are that eroded then I hate to even think about what her esophagus looks like. When was the last time she was scoped?

Some of the other moms may want to jump in here with some good ideas for questions too, I've been working at this computer for over twelve hours and at this point my brain isn't functioning very well :P !

Good luck with the GI.

Be assured that you are NOT alone, Sue! The more I research, the more I learn that there are an aweful lot of kids with a reflux out there. I, too, have felt inadequate as a mother because my child won't eat and keeps losing weight. I thought that maybe it was my fault, that I had done or eaten something wrong during pregnancy. If nothing else, I have learned that it is not because of something that we did. It is NOT your fault! You ARE a good mom, because you care enough to try to get the best help you can for your kids.

When I know that we have an upcoming doctor's appointment, I make and take a list of questions that I want to ask. (Depending on just how sleep-deprived I am, I sometimes even write down the answers...) Regarding questions, I would speak to the doctor about your concerns about your children's constipation. I would also ask what can be done to prevent further tooth damage. If your doctor has no suggestions, ask him if Sensidyne would help.

Good luck with your GI appointment tomorrow. Please let us know how it goes.

It is Connor that is going to see the gastro. Savannah is just going for a check up. What the pediodontist did was bond her teeth to prevent decay but there is nothing we can do about the damage to the teeth already. Her last scope showed a significant improvement from the first one. The docs did a barium study to see if her reflux has improved and they also did a ph probe (the sadest thing I ever had to do) She is not refluxing as often she has been down graded to mild-moderate. We tried to take her off some of her meds (m.o.m. works for her too) but things just got worse. I am not going to dink with her until she is feeding herself and gaining stedaly.

As for Connor, my poor little guy. He is the one who is now starting with all the tests that did really nothing for Savannah. He is starting to refuse food. He slips 45-90 min at a time and has lost a pound in two week. He gained some of it back already but theres the red flag. He doesn't throw up but he is a little spitty so I never thought he was refluxy. I guess he can catch it. Lately when you hear the reflux he will start to scream so hard that he looses his breath. Then they put him on Miralax and it gave him really bad stomach cramps so we had to stop giving it to him. I think I am going to just start him on M.O.M.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I am so glad to know that I am not alone in all this. I have given this web site to my girlfriend Anna. She really would be thankful to this site.

Where would I find your book Roni
