My name is Sue. I am the mommy of Savannah (3) and Connor (7m). We started our journey with reflux three years ago after our dd was born 6 weeks early. She started off with little preemi issues untill she was 3 weeks old. Then she started projectilaling across the room about six times a day. This continued for six months. She screamed all the time, and we had to constantly re-feed her. She was diagnosis was colic until she started loosing wieght, wouldn't sleep for more then 45-90 min at a time. We felt so isolated and alone in what we were going through. At 6 months she was diagnosed with moderate-sever reflux. She always stayed on the fence as far as the surgery went and they would threaten to tube her but then she would have a good week and gain a bit. She has not enamal on her teeth and has broken 9 so far. We were never told to care for her teeth agresively. She stopped eating solid food at 9 months and didn't eat again until she was 18 months. Thank the lord she would always take her bottle and smoothies (great place to hide green beens and other veggies). whitch needed a huge hole inoder for her to suck it out.

Now my son, Connor, Was diagnosed last month. We are going throught the same exact story. colic diagnosis until he started to loose wieght. We are seeing the gastro doc tomorrow and don't even know what to say to them. they seemed to do nothing for my dd I hope that some things have changed in the past three years.

More possitively, my children are beautiful. The light of my life. Savannah is now eating solid food as of Dec03. Not on her own yet but she can eat!!!

Hello Sue and welcome! I'm glad you found us, although wish it were under better circumstances.

Oh my goodness, your poor children have not gotten very good care from their doctors have they? What meds is Savannah on?

I look forward to getting to know you and your children. We're here if you have questions or just need to vent...as I'm sure you must from time to time having a new baby that's refluxing too.

I forgot to tell you about the meds. She did well on prilosec but they discontinued the childs dose. Now she is on prevecid and I have to actually become a pharmacist becaus it too is an adult dose.

Shae always took the adult dose of Prilosec, one 10mg tablet a day. If you put it in about 5 mils of water and let it sit for 15-30 minutes the outer coating will peel right off, let it soak some more and it dissolves into the water. We'd give it to her that way in the tube.

Great idea, Roni. Another idea...What we do is cut it in half, crush it with 2 spoons, and serve it in a spoon of applesauce or Heinz Toddler meals, and quickly follow it up with a good tasting bite.
