View Full Version : "I hurting"
AvasMommy 05-07-2008, 01:49 PM Well, my first official post in here. :sad5: This is now how Ava tells us that she's really struggling. She's choking more and more now, and it's really so sad. I think in our entire vacation, she maybe consumed 200 oral calories, including juice...and it was well over 90 degrees outside. I just feel so bad for her! The whole cast at the character breakfast sang Happy Dirt Day and did a little dance for her (so cool, since we were the first seating at 8:00 am, with only 2 other tables) and Dora and Little Bill both actually FED her a bite of chocoloate cake, which she even ATE for them. But, that was all she ate, and only b/c it was them. She is a refluxing, miserable mess, and I hate this.
So much for my mom's (ludicrous) theory that we can "just reason with her" and "tell her she HAS" to eat "when she turns 3", right? She just CAN'T. She'd like to, I know she would. She talks about food. It's not that she wouldn't like to eat. Yesterday at a rest area, she saw some picnic tables and wanted to go have a "picnic". So...we went and sat there. :sad5: She doesn't even know that you're supposed to EAT at a picnic.
I hate this. Sorry guys, just getting back to reality.
 ((Hugs)) I am sorry:sad5: You had such a fun time over the Dirt Day celebration...I just wish that day-to-day life could be more like that. :sad5:
I need to check the calendar to find out when Miss Ava has her upcoming appointments...It breaks my heart to hear that she is suffering.
AllieandJacksProudMama 05-07-2008, 02:17 PM Poor Ava. I am so sorry Lindsay. We always wish our kids could tell us what is wrong, and when they do, we really don't want to hear it, because there is nothing we can do about it.
Ugh, we are beginning to hear rumblings about "reasoning" with B on the eating front...and whispers that she's not really sick now--just "picky". It drives me batty--and if I have to sit through one more family meal where every single, solitary member IGNORES me when I tell them to just be cool about her eating and instead insists on watching and commenting on her every bite (or lack thereof) and/or making stupid "Mmmmm, yummy" noises, I'm going to blow a microchip. (ARE YOU READING THIS, FAMILY MEMBERS? YOU SHOULD BE!)
*decides to stop hijacking this thread*
I'm glad that she ate a couple bites of cake, but it's SO sad that it made her reflux go nuts. ...and I'm (obviously) so irritated for you that your mom thinks you can "just reason" with Ava about eating. *Sigh* Even if you COULD reason with her, what's the point? If it causes her this much distress, why would you even want to push the issue? :sad5:
Aside from that, how was the vacation?
Minnie 05-07-2008, 02:56 PM (((HUGS))) Lindsay
Vacations are bitter sweet aren't they...sigh....
So is the time when your child can communicate better
I'm sorry she's hurting:hug:
Jannette 05-07-2008, 03:04 PM I'm sorry that she is hurting so much and still having such a hard time. I'm right there with you when it comes to family not understanding...it is so very sad:sad5: Please give Ava a nice big hug from me and Ethan...
Katey 05-07-2008, 03:55 PM :sad5::hug:
Vicki P 05-07-2008, 08:24 PM Well.......you and dh could always dress up like 'Little Bill and Dora'.....:evil4:
Seriously, I agree, it sucks.
Christine 05-07-2008, 10:13 PM Good idea Vicki! :smt036
Linds - I sure hope they can get something figured out for Ava. Remind us - is she scheduled for her re-do fundo yet?
cariberry77 05-07-2008, 10:24 PM Poor Ava. Guess that puts a little damper on your vacation. I continue to pray that she will have some kind of miracle breakthough and her suffering will cease. In the meantime, hugs to all of you...
AvasMommy 05-08-2008, 04:14 PM Thanks, you guys. :sad5: And no, she's not scheduled yet. Still waiting to be scheduled for the stinkin' consult! :time: :violent1: :time:
Vicki...can I be Little Bill? :evil4:
Jannette 05-08-2008, 04:23 PM I sure hope that she feels better soon...
While I do agree that as they get older they have more of an understanding about eating but it definitely doesn't happen over night.
Sams Mum 05-09-2008, 03:09 AM Poor sweetie! Sorry that people just aren't "getting" it... :sad5:

Twins plus Two 05-09-2008, 06:57 AM Poor Ava :sad5: . The SALT told me it is a minor miracle that Kitty not only eats but is keen to eat, since she chokes all the time and refluxes far worse after eating. She said most kids would be like Ava. (((hugs))) I have my family on my back over A's surgery right now, suggesting cos he has gained a little weight we should cancel -doesn't do anything for your confidence and certainly doesn't help the children does it?!
