Well I was determined not to post any questions about Baby James but it's on my mind so...

He was a c-section baby b/c of the cord around his neck. They tested the cord and determined he had no loss of oxcegen. He has always had a noisy chest sound. I have mentioned to the ped. at the first visit and was told he had some nasal congestion so use saline/suction/humidifier. Then I brought him in with the boys and the dr. did hear some wheezing and said the same applies with treatment. But my thing is he has it at least once every day, where if you hold him you can feel it in his back. He has no other "sick" signs. He eats, sleeps great and no fever or cough. He is what we call a loud baby with breathing noises, but not all the time. I can't really say it's only when...His next visit is a couple weeks off and I am wondering what to make of this. He is now a little over 3 months.

Thanks!

Kerri, I think it is very doubtful that the c-section would have anything to do with his congestion, even in light of the nuchal cord. I know you hear about c-section babies not clearing the fluid from the lungs the same way a vag baby does, and that is true. However, the excessive fluid IS cleared from the chest within the first hours after birth. Certainly within the first 24-48 hours. I really think you can put your mind to ease in regards to the c-section.

The fact that he is having congestion on a daily basis for 3 months, leads me to believe he may have an allergy or intolerance to *something* - whether it be food-related or environmental. Brenna had congestion when she was at her worst with the MSPI. My stepdaughter's baby is 5 months old now, and he has had congestion, watery eyes, rashes, etc since day one. The physician attributes Ian's symptoms to dog/cat/mold allergies (this is what he is exposed to at Amber's grandmother's house). He gets Benadryl on a daily basis. Maybe you could ask your pediatrician about giving this a try.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Thank you Lori. I was kind of hoping it would be c-section related, and yes that is exactly what I heard LOL. I did come across the MSPI and am wondering esp. since Sam had the milk allergy as did dh.

Thanks again, I think I will call the ped. and see what he thinks, b/c his next appt. is in 4 weeks.
