There have been some complaints about so many excessively large signatures on IRD lately. Apparently with so many long signature lines it's getting cumbersome for some to scroll through threads which means the time has come to implement some new signature size limitations.

Before I get into the new rules, all is not lost. There is an area that you can use to place all the excess signature stuff...at least for platinum members. It's called a userpage, or IRDspace as we will be calling it around here. Think of it like your own IRD version of myspace. You can add pics, the info from your sig or whatever you want, to your IRDspace and you can link to your IRDspace in your new, shorter signature link using this graphic:

To start using your IRDspace, go to your user CP and near the top of the left side menu will be a text link labelled Edit Userpage, click here and start writing just as you would a new post or a signature line. Make sure to save your changes when you have finished.

In order to link to your IRDspace using the graphic use the following code:

Just replace all the < > symbols I used with [ ] symbols instead. For example the img would look like [img] instead of <img>.

We might even start having monthly IRDspace competitions to nominate and vote on the best IRDspaces of the month if everyone thinks that would be fun.

Due to extra server space and therefore extra hosting costs these spaces are only available to platinum members; however.




Now onto the new sig rules.

FOR REGULAR REGISTERED MEMBERS:

You may use one ticker image.
Maximum number of lines is 10, with a maximum of 1000 characters including bbcode or 500 characters excluding bbcode.
You may use one image that is to be no more than 320x240 pixels.
We reserve the right to edit signatures that are too long by removing images and text as necessary.
You may include links to your personal website if you have one. Any other links may be removed to comply with our link policy. Any website that displays advertising of any kind is not considered a personal website. If you have any questions about whether or not your website is allowed, kindly pm a moderator.
You may not use animated images of any kind...this includes blinkies, smilies, etc.FOR PLATINUM MEMBERS:

You may use up to two tickers.
Maximum number of lines is 15, with a maximum of 1500 characters including bbcode or 1000 characters excluding bbcode.
You may use two images that are to be no more than 320x240 pixels. (the IRDspace graphic is not included in this total, so you may have two additional images, over and above the irdspace graphic.)
We reserve the right to edit signatures that are too long by removing images and text as necessary.

Other animated images (ie. photos, etc) are included in the image maximum above. For example, you could have one static picture and one animated picture for a total of two images.We'll allow a week or so for everyone to get used to the new limits and have time to change their siggies, after that mods will be contacting members with signatures that are still too large.

Ok, there seems to be some confusion about how to add the link graphic with the actual link. Simply copy the code I used in the first post, change the < > symbols to [ ] symbols and THEN you have to change the text within the link code area...where it says YOURUSERPAGELINKHERE or whatever it says, you have to change that to the actual URL of your userpage. I think this is where people are having trouble. So copy the URL of your userpage and paste it in place of that text.

Anyone still having problems?

If you aren't sure if your photo size is regulation, just right click it and do properties and check the size, if it is over 320 x 240 PER photo it is too big. Even if you are platinum and allowed two photos, each photo isn't allowed over this size.
