View Full Version : I'm home
niknak 02-20-2008, 08:49 PM Hey guys, thank you for all of your support and love while I was in the hospital. I actually got home Monday night but the past two days have been insane. I teach special education and found out yesterday that one of my students passed away, one of my current students. So yeah. I went back to work and buried a student all in the same day *shudder*.
I'm still in a bit of pain, but the emotional is way outweighing the physical. Its almost allowing me to block it out most of the time. I just can't believe she is gone. 12 years old, its not right. They didn't teach me to deal with the death of a student in school.
Anyway, just a note to say I'm home, I'm good. I'll start being more active again soon. I just need things to calm the heck down.
Christine 02-20-2008, 08:59 PM Gald you are home. Get some rest.
Sorry about your student. I can't imagine.
Nikki, I'm so glad to hear that you're home, but I'm very sorry to hear about your student. Where do you teach? (I understand if you're not comfortable sharing that info.)
I was all set to come visit you at the hospital (I'm the *stalker* LOL who left the message on your cell phone on Monday afternoon), but I was excited to hear (from Lindsay) that you were going to be coming home Monday night, instead.
Once things calm down for you, we'll have to set up a Naperville "meet & greet"!
WELCOME BACK!
Miori 02-20-2008, 09:17 PM I'm glad you are home, Nikki. So sad about your student. I'm so sorry.
Minnie 02-20-2008, 10:20 PM That's so sad :sad5:
I'm sorry that you lost her.
There has been lot's of death at Emilia's school this year. It's never right when a child dies. One of her teachers isn't dealing with it very well, and he ended up taking leave because he didn't feel he could teach well (according to Emilia he was right). He just came back this week, and Emilia says it's like having a robot teacher, and she's worried about him. :(
I don't think it's anything that you can prepare for
(((BIG HUG)))
So VERY happy you are home though.
Jannette 02-20-2008, 10:25 PM A death of a child is never right, I can certainly understand your pain. I am so glad that you are home and I hope that you are able to find some comfort both emotionally and physically soon...:smt056
