I am wondering if you ladies could give me some advice on what to do with my daughter Rylie. She has issues with reflux since she was born and we have had several tests done......which FINALLY the pulomonologist put her on Prevacid (after original GI said it was all in my imagination).

So anyways.....we found a another GI and I am very happy with him. He had told me the last time we saw him that Rylie maybe on the Prevacid until she is about 7 years old, which I can accept this. She is currently on 15mg once aday along with 1 tablet of Pepcid before bed.

She was a picky eater and refused to try anything, but now she has been trying different foods which makes me VERY happy.....considering my other child eats everything and anything.

So here is my dilema.....I have noticed she has been vurping A LOT these days and I can tell she just swallows it back down again. Which I am sure is a really bad taste. I am thinking her dosage is no longer enough to control the reflux anymore. What do you ladies think? Do you think I should call the GI and have her evaluated again?

I just feel so bad for her, although I really do not think she thinks twice about it because she is so use to it by now.

Thanks for listening and all of your advice!!!

Is it possible that any of the new foods she is eating are aggrivating things? Maybe take a look at what she is eating, start a little journal of things and see if you notice a pattern.

That is what I was thinking at first, but she is eating mostly the same stuff she has eaten with the exception of maybe one or two new things. And this all started even before she started to be more brave in trying the new stuff.....do you know what I mean?

Is it possible that she is getting sick? I find that Parkers reflux starts to flare way before he actually shows he is sick if you know what I mean. I would leave it a week and see if she is doing any better and if not go back to the GI.

Has she had vaccinations recently?

Personally when a good dose of meds is working for so long, I don't find that people need to adjust it, its like you have the right dose for the amount of acid she produces, so that is why my first thought is a flare and not a permanent thing (hopefully).

I would think it's a flare. If she was complaining of pain I would think otherwise.
