Catherine loves to dance and can't wait to take dance class when she starts school. We were going to a middle school/upper school dance production this afternoon, and she selected a frilly, lace-covered dress from her closet. I mean the whole thing was itchy, scratchy lace except for a taffeta underskirt. It was a hand-me-down from my neice and not something I'd ever purchase for her to wear. I don't know why I hung onto it other than it really is a beautiful dress. Anyway, Catherine said it was a dancing dress and she was going to wear it. She started tugging at it from the moment she put it on, but she was determined to wear it so we left home, change of clothes in a bag.
It almost made me cry to watch her digging at herself and tugging at the dress to keep it off her skin, but she would not take it off! She was set on wearing a "boo-full" dancing dress so she could dance like the big girls. We left at intermission.
