Well this Sensory Integration Dysfunction is getting more and more in depth. Today KC's OT came and was working on some things with him. We had balloons from Desi's party and she was throwing those in the air to see what he would do. Well needless to say he wouldn't look up at all. He won't even look up so I can wash his hair I pretty much have to force him to and that is alot of hard work. Well she finally said that the muscle reflex in his neck and shoulders is still to tight and that is why he can't look up b/c babies are supposed to lose that at 4 months and his is still very strong. Has anyone else experienced this? We need to start muscle exercises soon to loosen up the muscles in his neck and shoulders. As for brushing she won't do it b/c he didn't like it so she doesn't want to try it again. Does this make sense or should I look for a new OT? I am so very confused and I don't know what to do. I am about to start the brushing protocol on my own but am very unsure about it. I may wait til Cole comes back. What do you all think.

I agree that sensory issues is a real PITA!
With the 2-3 meltdowns each day that Jason is having, I'm beginning to wonder if there is anything else going on with him ( a tranquilizer a day is helping my nerves for now, but not sure how much longer I can take it!)
I just called our coordinator to get another meeting together with all the therapists (they will hate me for this!) so that Jason could possibly get a medical assessment to see if there is any adhd or autism spectrum issues that are coming to light.
If the current OT is not meeting your needs, I would talk to the coordinator....we went through 3 speech therapists for Emma until I found one that "worked" for us.

I am sorry he is having such a hard time. I am not an expert on the burshing, but if he did not like it then I would not do it on your own. It does not work with all kids and if it is bothering him due to his sensory issues then it may just make him worse.
I hope you can find something that will work for him and that the muscle exercises will help.

I am so sorry Lauren, therapists can be so confusing. I always say go with your gut, if you don't think she is working out, get a new one.
With the neck, my cousins baby has problems with his neck and he sees a chiro and has been a lot better, you could always try that?
