I'm not even sure if I should be posting here. D is old enough, but he's been off of his zantac since spring; of course he still suffers from behaviors developed from reflux -- i.e. not eating enough... which is way better than not eating at all!
Anyway, today was D's four-year checkup. He was 34.2 pounds (I forget the percentile) and 39.5 inches (40th percentile). Our ped said 50th %tile for four-year-olds is 40 pounds and 40 inches. Apparently, D had lost some weight since our last appointment many months ago, but I remember he was really constipated when he weighed in at 36 pounds. (But I was still thrilled about that number and for awhile even had it in my sig line, though eventually I had to admit it was not a true weight.) But the ped is not concerned -- D is very healthy and progressing well developmentally.
The nurse checked his hearing (he had to say "beep" when he heard the sound in his ear) and his eyesight (he had to name shapes on the chart, and got further than I could even with my contacts in). Then she told us he needed four shots -- and he heard her. Ack! The anticipation was way worse than the shots! Did you guys know they're now recommending a second chicken pox booster? But supplies are low and the ped didn't have any, or my poor guy would've gotten five shots!
Afterwards, we went straight to the ENT for a checkup and learned that one of the ear tubes placed in May is already coming out. If D continues to have ear problems, they'll place semi-permanent tubes next time. Sigh....
Fortunately, the rest of our day should be fun -- a playdate at the park and a volleyball game.
