View Full Version : What are you reading right now?
Christine 10-01-2007, 10:49 PM I have been on a reading kick - books that is. I usually just page thru magazines, but my neighbor gave me some of her favorite books and I enjoyed getting back into it - with a detour to read Harry Potter.
I finished: The Posionwood Bible and The Secret Life of Bees - both good reads, not the best books I have ever read though.
Any suggestions?????
eaglemansbaby1124 10-01-2007, 10:59 PM The only things I have been trying to read is the classified(looking for a new house) and The out of sync child. I do have this book called the five people you meet in heaven. It was a good book.
steveangela1 10-01-2007, 11:30 PM Well, Lately I am reading a lot of childrens books.. I signed a "contract" w/ wyatts school to read him a book a night so that he can have a "pizza party" in november... and then when they are reading better in Jan they will start the "book it" program. I do read magizines like Rachel Rays mag, family circle, we have Nick JR, stuff like that.... I don't get into long books I just don't have the time anymore....
scarlet 10-02-2007, 03:31 AM OK well I read the really trashy Mills and Boon books, do you have them? Basically they are all the same, short easy to read and a happy ending ROFL, yes that is what it has come to.
I used to read tons, till the kids (and IRD :rolling:) but now I am stuck on these ones...well at least I am still reading!
MadalinesMama 10-02-2007, 07:33 AM I love love love to read!!!:love10: I am a James Patterson, Michael Connelly, and John Sanford junkie......and the book that's on the night stand now is called "Thriller" is a thick collection of short stories from all the greatest thriller writers of the last decade, edited by James Patterson. I am finding that the short stories are working the best right now - just enough of a fix before bed without the groggy morning because I was up until 2am with a book I couldn't put down (not that i could do that now.....maddy is usually up for a bottle at 1.......ahhh....to remember a time when I was still up at 1 am because I wanted to....
Little Women
The Autism Spectrum
Pirates, Ghosts and Coastal Lore The Best of Charles H. Whedbee
Becky in NM 10-02-2007, 08:22 AM Last night I finished Suite Francaise. It's a novel about WWII from the perspective of French citizens. The book was pretty good, but I was fascinated by the author's notes and correspondence at the end of the book.
Carrie 10-02-2007, 08:55 AM I just bought Danielle Steels new book.. Haven't had a chance to read it yet though!
scarlet 10-02-2007, 09:26 AM Carrie is it called sisters? If so I have it too I have had it for a couple of weeks and haven't started it (bar the first couple of pages) I always get interrupted by something.
twinmom 10-02-2007, 09:47 AM I'm doing the same as Lauren...such exciting reading...
The Out of Sync Child and Is This Your Child (unrecognized allergies).....
Yes, I'm between the 2 books because the Out of Sync Child is such heavy reading I need a break in order to "absorb" all the info.
manda40475 10-02-2007, 12:52 PM I am an avid reader, but I hardly have time now with Noah in the house. I can't even get caught up on my magazines! LOL The last book I read was a recent one by Heather Graham. She writes these murder/suspense novels with a little romance thrown in.
AvasMommy 10-02-2007, 12:55 PM Textbooks...grrrrrr!
I read a lot of children's books, too...some for school, most for fun, and a lot to add to my growing library for my future classroom.
Kristenrn23 10-02-2007, 03:42 PM good lord.. its been a while since i read a whole book... with this little lady the only thing i get to read is people magazine and sometimes a few others.. just no time for books these days and by 10:00 its over for me.. how sad. LOL my husband is the big reader..
alitressa 10-02-2007, 07:16 PM I love to read non-fiction (except for Harry Potter) especially novels about historical events (yes , I know, it is geeky) Just before the 7th Harry Potter, I was doing a whole Queens of England thing reading novels about Queen Elizabeth I and II, Queen Victoria and was half way through Mary Queen of Scots and the murder of Lord Darnley (her husband) when Harry came out and I never got back to it (although I got halfway though Royal Panoply: Brief Lives of the English Monarchs while waiting to be called for our copy of Harry at about 2:00am!)
Lately I have been re-reading everything I have on feeding. Most of my current caseload are feeding cases and we getting referrals for more severely involved children. Most of these type of referrals used to go to the feeding clinic at the children's hospital but they are not taking any new cases and Medicaid has done some changes in their eligibility requirements that have brought even more referrals. I am seeing many more infants and tube feeders than I have in over 13-14 years with more than my fair share of inappropriate referrals (that is another story for another day - trying to be professional but just needing to vent a little and the glass of wine with dinner certainly is helping with my verbal diarrhea!)
Ok if you read though all that - bless you for staying with my half-drunken ramblings! :drinkalot:
AvasMommy 10-02-2007, 07:34 PM Hmmmmm...ya learn something new every day!
:rolling: Pam's a drunken geek! :razzing:
:drinkalot: :dork: :dork: :dork: :drinkalot:
:evil4:
Christine 10-02-2007, 08:43 PM Rachel - I did read much more before IRD.
And I am with Pam - I love historical fiction. Next on my list is Pope Joan - a myth (maybe) about a female pope.
Debbie 10-02-2007, 09:30 PM I just finished "Louder than Words"
