Hello

I'm not sure if you remember but miki has already had two operations on her airways, because of apneas and desating all the time, she was pretty good with that side of things for a while after her second airway op but of late has got bad again , it seemed to start up again after her last aspiration she had antibiotics and steroids, and the pneumonia cleared up her lungs are stil clear no cracklings or lower wheeze but her upper airways you can her a strider again really badly (according to Dr) i can here it when she breathes in deep which she does about every 10 breaths, and she has started coughing lots and goes dusky when led down like she used to, they have prescribed her steroids again and are to keep an eye on her if she gets bad again need to take her in,

Is it bad to keep having her on steroids every few weeks or so, i worry they Will have to do another operation on her airways, as i know each time they do it the risk of needing a tracheotomy is higher and also she already aspirates when swallows and if they do to much more work she will aspirate for ever KWIM

What is you opinion is there anything i can do to help her

Thanks

I'm sorry she's having such trouble again, Amy. Bless her heart, Miki deserves better.

Honestly, I don't know if there is too much more to do that you're not already doing. I'm not really sure how long they can feasibly leave her on steroids. I'm sure your doctor is keeping an eye on all of that. Is it possible that she may have a virus causing some swelling in her airway such as RSV or something similar?

Let's see, what else can you do? Do you have a humidifier running in her room? That's about the only thing that I can add for home that may help to ease her stridor.

I'm sorry, Amy. I'm not much of an expert this time around am I?:sad5:

thanks for your reply,

we have got her a humidifier in her room think it may help a bit but not a great deal, KWIM

I thought that maybe an RSV or hoped even as hat is easier to to deal with then an anatomy issue, but the dr said no is her airways again, but not that you have put the thought back into my head i am agreeing with you instead, in that case it shoud clear with in a week or so shouldnt it

thanks for you reply better go miki is screaming again

Amy, I hope it is a virus and clears, but don't get set on that, ok? I certainly can't diagnose from the opposite hemisphere and I don't want to give you false hope. I'm praying that it's something as simple as a virus. Please keep us updated.
