View Full Version : What would you do with the money if you hit the lottery?
alitressa 08-13-2007, 10:12 AM While driving the girls to camp this morning this was the topic of discussion on the radio station I listen to. Since after dropping them off , the car was quiet and I thought about it the entire way home.
1. Both of my parents grew up rather poor but through their hard work the family business became quite successful. They have been very generous and I would love to return their generosity by buying them a place in Rehoboth Beach that is a block or less (oceanfront would be nice!) from the ocean. I would also like to get them a nice condo in downtown Wilmington on the Brandywine river.
2. Pay for everyone's education: my girls, my two goddaughters and my cousin who finally at almost 44 has decided to do something with her life and go to nursing school.
3. To fix up my aunt's house and pay off my another aunt's house.
4. Give to charity: GERD research, Habitat for Humanity, Easter Seals and an endowment to the University of Delaware to start an undergraduate and graduate program in Speech Pathology.
5. And of course, pay off my house, home equity and save for retirement.
Fortunately Delaware recently passed a law allowing lottery winners to remain completely anonymous so I wouldn't be bombarded with strangers asking for money.
Now all I have to do is start playing the lottery!! which I have only done maybe once or twice in my life!
JennyLynn 08-13-2007, 10:33 AM This is also a topic that my dh and I have thought/talked about alot! This is what we would do...
1. Pay off dh's and his dads business. Then we would give his mom and dad some money to do with what they want.
2. Let my mom and dad build their dream house (which isn't really huge, but what they want). They would end up moving to Colorado, so we would have to build a house there also.
3. Build our dream house, get the vehicles and play toys (dh wants a boat, I want a jet sky).
4. Put plenty away so that the kids and rest of the family wouldnt have to worry again!! Make sure that our parents, brother and his family, sister and her family, and grandparents were good to go!!
5. I would want to donate to plenty of charitys, the main one in mind is the Humane Society (I'm a big animal lover)
AvasMommy 08-13-2007, 11:12 AM 1. Pay off all debts for the whole fam!
2. Education for all!
3. New houses for all!
4. Boat and toys
5. New vehicles
6. Invest, invest, invest...I want to be SET for retirement.
7. Charity: GERD, All Children's Hospital, The Ronald McDonald House, Humane Society, etc.
Basically, my first order of business would be to make sure that the fam and I would all be comfy and taken care of!
Pooka 08-13-2007, 11:39 AM 1. Pay off the house I live in (with my best friend who actually owns the house)
2. Buy the house down the street that has a mother-in-law appt up stairs & move in to that
3. Pay movers to move my mom out here & in to the MIL appt.
4. Pay off all bills, I mean everything
5. Put away $ for school for the kids
6. Send my own self back to school
7. Set up a full wood shop
8. Invest the rest & donate a percentage of the earnings each year to charity
1. I'd cut huge checks to Roni and to PAGER
2. I'd buy an island
3. I'd invite only my best-est friends and a few select non-crazy family members to live on that island with me
4. I'd live happily ever after.
The end!
