Bethany, Adam and I all went to Lauren's house yesterday to celebrate KC's birthday. :-) I stuffed my kids in the car and made the 3+ hour drive to Lauren's neck of the woods. The drive there was quite pleasant and I must say that I made quite an outstanding first impression by arriving late. (MapQuest said it would only take 2.5 hours!). This impression was reinforced later when Lauren watched me swoon over a hot dog. :smt036 More on that later...
Anyway, the kids had a blast. Bethany quickly took to the kiddie pool and played with the older girls while KC and Adam looked on. Peer pressure apparently works on B, as she ate part of a popsicle, 2 potato chips and a few bites of hamburger! :yahoo: KC polished off a fruit cup and finished the meal by wearing the empty container on his head. :smt036 A good time was had by all. :-) Contrary to what you might think, Lauren is really a normal, nice person. *ducks to avoid objects Lauren is sure to hurl in this direction* Her kids are really fun and her dh is very nice. :-)
So, about that hot dog...Lauren's dh (Ken) fired up the grill and made hamburgers/hot dogs. As most of you know, I am a hot dog connisseur (sp?). These babies were cooked to perfection--crispy and well-done on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. Plop one in a bun, slap on a little mustard and you're in hot-dog Heaven...*begins to salivate at the memory* Anyway, Lauren was trying to talk to me and I must've looked like I was doing an impression of Bill Murray at the dinner table from the movie "What About Bob?". She talked and I made "Mmmmmm" sounds and stuffed hot dog in my mouth. I didn't realize what a fool I was making of myself until she stopped talking and simply stared at me, mouth crammed full of hot dog and mustard on my lips, in awe.
I'm not sure if I'll be invited back but I had a great time! :-)
