hi there.

Naomi has choanal stenosis (narrowing of the nasal airways) , she was born with it. She has had one dialation at 5 months old and is going in for a second dialation next week. I was just wondering, do you come across this alot? is this common?. I think it is worrying to me and not as common as i am thinking. Is there a link with this and any syndromes or problems that you know of....thanks for listening.

Sorry, Nikki, I came across this one late. To answer your question, No, I really don't see much choanal atresia. We screen all newborns for it at birth, but in my 13 years of experience, I have not seen a single case. I'm sure that hospitals with larger NICUs see it more. As for syndromes associated with it, I don't know. I found this article to give you more information:
