Hi all,
I just thought I'd share with you all that on the weekend of Canada day, I passed an intense two day exam in order to become a full fledged certified CanTRA Instructor.:yahoo:
Our centre had four candidates: myself, two peers from same centre and one from Québec. We are pleased to announce that three candidates passed with flying colours which is exciting for CanTRA as there is a need for more certified CanTRA Instructors throughout Canada.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far!
Take care
Lynne

Thank you!
I'll save you the *google* ;)
The 2 day exam is usually preceeded be a two day technical which resembles the exam but with feedback from the two examinors. At the end of the two days, they advise you where were your week points & when you are allowed to take the actual exam.
On day one we discussed the *Homestudy* which are a two part paper. Part 1 is a paper on medical & all possible disabilities that we encounter in our program. The second part is about dissecting the teaching of these dissabilities.
We are then given a background of our four riders that we will be teaching on the next day (a lesson plan is to be handed in at this point).
A volunteer topic is given to us and we have 10 min to prepare this oral portion. Afterwards is a 2 -3 hour written exam. This is the medical & disabilities portion.
On the second day which starts at 8:30am, we begin teaching which lasts approx 25min. Afterwards we pick one rider, that needs help, out of the group & teach a 10min 1:1 lesson.
Near the end of the day is our oral questioning where the examinors can pick anything to ask us. They then take 30min to confir in private, then again a 1:1 meeting occurs where they let you know if you've passed or not.

Wow! That does sound intense. Congratulations! It is so great to see more people being certified it is a huge step in getting therapeutic horse back ridding taken as a serious therapeutic modality. I hope I will be able to join you some day (only with the NTRA, since I am in the US). When the kids get a little bigger I am going to serioulsy pursue certification.

Congratulations! My board exams were always nerve wracking. I know the time and hard work put toward those certifications. I hope you had a celebration afterwards.

How on earth did you manage to get to eat any of that cake, let alone most of it with your crew around? Wow. That in itself is quite an accomplishment! **suspects Lynne sent the kids to Siberia in reality**
