i took bay to his regular gp today as he has been not well since yesterday. she has diagnoses him with hooping cough and given him some different antibiotics than he was already on. (he has an upper respiratory tract infection - 2 ear infections, throat infection and sinuus infection) ii cant remember the name of them. i dont think its hooping cough thoughh as hooping cough is a dry cough isnt it? these are his symptoms... this all startted after he choked on his anti biotics i gave him....

very nasty wet productive cough (yellow) that has gotten worse in a short amount of time and is medium length of fitts kwim lol
snotty grey boogas that make him unable to breath
fever 38.7 celcius
irritability
plemy sounding chest (able to feel it in his chest)
very sleepy (slept 15 hrs between crying and coughing)
bloody yellow mucas on beddiing
blood in ng tube but unable to draw back blood
dont know about feeding as he does not eat anything anyway
wheezing only upon crying or after coughing fitts

i do not think it is whooping cough but i am no experrt so what would i know. he had a chest x ray about 3 days ago to test if a piece of a plastic thermometer was in his chest or stomache (dont ask lol) would you suggest getting another done? would anything have changed? what do u think it may be? should i take him to ED? i am sooo sick of ED as i have been up there nearly eery night the past week for his tube so i dont wanna go up there for no reason kwim?

thank you for your time much appreciated:hug:

Do you advise your doctor of all the symptoms at your visit today? If so, I'm sure she took all of that into account when changing his antibiotics. I definitely feel that this is something that will respond to antibiotics. As for the ER, get him there immediately if he becomes pale, gray, or blue around the mouth (or more) or if he spikes a temp. It is possible that his sinus and ear infections have progressed to pneumonia, but the antibiotics would cover that as well. Yes, the chest x-ray may have changed in 3 days time, but I don't know that would change the coarse of action now. However, trust your mom instincts, and if you feel another trip to the doc or ER is wise, go. You might also give your doc a call just to touch base.

thanks for the advice i only got to read it just now. he did turn blue last night and i called an ambulance as i couldnt get his colour to change. by the time they got there he was ok. he was wheezing when sleeping and his cry was very weak. they took him in to the childrens hospital and his stats were fine (oxygen 95%) nothing major. i have to follow up next week with his ped and see if this infection goes away as he has had a bundle of infections for 3 weeks now and its not getting any better. they also said that if its not cleared up in a week to bring him in and they will do tests for CF. so thank you again. xx
