View Full Version : What's your middle name?
AFter the previous post in this thread, it made me curious....
So what's your middle name?
Mine is Jo......I don't mind it so much anymore, but I hated it when I was younger. :sad3:
AvasMommy 05-10-2007, 01:09 PM My middle name is Rae, and I love it!!! I really wanted Ava's mn to be Rae too, but dh sneak attacked me when I was in the NICU w/ Ava. He came back down to sign her birth cert., and changed her mn to Bella, which is cute too, except that now her name literally translates to "pretty beautiful". Ava means pretty in Hebrew and Bella is beautiful in Italian.
So, it's a good thing she's pretty beautiful I guess, huh?:haha:
tclear 05-10-2007, 01:16 PM Mine is Lynn - so signifance to it, my mom just liked it!
Karas Mom 05-10-2007, 01:48 PM Mine is Lynn too. I don't really think it had any significance to my parents, other than being popular in 1972.
JennyLynn 05-10-2007, 01:50 PM My middle name is also Lynn....(noticing a trend here) Lynn is my moms friend that got her together with my dad so she wanted my middle name to signify that.
amylou1977 05-10-2007, 01:50 PM i have no middle name Amylou 1st name smith last thats it this is what i put on forms that ask for middle initial -
Nicole after my father's middle name of Nicholas. My mom wanted to name me after my father (Edward) somehow and was contemplating Edwina. But my dad put the kabosh on that and then my mom had the brainstorm to play off his middle name. (Jack's middle name is Edward after his grandfather.)
I was almost Amy Beth (my mom had a Little Women fixation), but my dad didn't like Beth, so I was obviously meant to become Amy Nicole. (My maiden name started with G, so my mom used to tease me that my initials (ANG) were short for "angel". AWWWW! :sign11:
kimber 05-10-2007, 02:29 PM My mn is Dawn..
FN: Kimberly Dawn
I think my mom was a fan of Tony Orlando...LOL
I don't know where Dawn came from
Kristenrn23 05-10-2007, 03:05 PM Mine is Beth, after my granny . her name was Elizabeth.. my parents couldnt decide on a middle name so my dad decided to throw his mothers name in their two so i have two middle names like a dork lol..which i only use the beth.. but the other is kathleen.. miss hannahs middle name is Reese cuz i think its pretty :)
stephiehatt 05-10-2007, 03:42 PM Another Lynn here. I wish my mom had been a little more creative. But I am a child of the early 70's too so I guess that was the middle name of the moment. Plus they thought I was a boy and had my boy name already picked out (Joshua) but no girl names. I didn't have a name for 3 days until the nurse said I couldn't go home w/o a name so I guess they worked so hard to come up w/Stephanie that they picked an easy name for a middle name. No signifcance that I know of. But I made sure my kid's names were significant, both first and middle.
manda40475 05-10-2007, 03:49 PM My mn is Dawn..
FN: Kimberly Dawn
That was the name my mom had chosen for my sister and my grandmother had announced to the entire church. But after seeing my sister outside of the womb, my mom decided she didn't look like a Kimberly and changed her name. :haha:
manda40475 05-10-2007, 03:50 PM My middle name is Danielle and I've honestly never cared for it. It was supposed to be Ray because I was born on my great-grandmother's 75th birthday, but when my mom asked...she was told it wasn't her birthday. LOL Oh well.
Miori 05-10-2007, 03:52 PM Mine is Judith, after my mom's dear high school friend...her middle name was Judith, and she was killed in a car crash when they were in college.
Funny story about middle names...I used to work at a private college, and I advised a lot of students from the Middle East. Over there, your middle name follows your family line, so they were always confused about our middle names and how they really meant nothing over here. So, if your name is Mohammed Abdul Al-Khalifi, then Mohammed is your first name, Abdul is your father, and Al-Khalifi is the family you belong too....just thought I'd educate you all for a second, lol.
eaglemansbaby1124 05-10-2007, 04:48 PM My middle name is Catherine after my great aunt Catherine. So it is Lauren Catherine(maiden name Sissman). My mom was very close to my great aunt so that is were it came from. Not to mention St Catherine(very much a catholic family).
Yvette 05-10-2007, 04:52 PM I don't have a middle name and neither do my sisters. Apparently my parents had enough trouble coming up with first names.
I have no idea how they came up with Yvette???
Katey 05-10-2007, 05:23 PM Mine is Lee. It is legally Gauthier, (my maden name) becasue I change my name to Katrina Gautheir Hirt when I got married. But Lee is the middle name my mom gave me. She just liked the way it sounded.
alitressa 05-10-2007, 05:33 PM I don't have a middle name and neither do my sisters. Apparently my parents had enough trouble coming up with first names.
I have no idea how they came up with Yvette???
I don't have a middle name either for the same reason- my parents had enough trouble comming up with a first name!
Emily M 05-10-2007, 06:48 PM That's interesting Miori...
Mine is Denise, my mom's is also Denise. No signifigance except that my mom's is the same. :smt036
sue.zee.q 05-10-2007, 09:31 PM Mine is Marianne, it's significance is from a famous statue of woman's head in France. My Dad was from Paris. It's Allison's middle name also.
What other middle name would possibly go with Lori???? ANN, of course. Yup, me and 50 million other Lori Ann's. Ugh, my mom was so creative (also a child of 1972). I've always thought that is was bland, boring, etc. But, it's mine so I guess I'll stick with it.

sixdogssixcats 05-10-2007, 09:40 PM Lesley Noelle
I was named for my maternal great-grandfather (Leslie Carl) and my dad's oldest brother (Noel). Catherine gets her middle name of Knight from her paternal great-grandfather so we sort of carried on a tradition.
Christine 05-10-2007, 10:17 PM Christine Anne here.
My mom's middle name and my sisters middle name are Anne too.
Becky in NM 05-10-2007, 10:27 PM Well, I'm another Lynn from 1972! But honestly, I'm not sure I've ever heard of a different middle name that went with Rebecca.
Daniel's middle name is Wiley, which is my maiden name. We knew all along that'd be his middle name, and it sort of helped us rule out first names that didn't go with it. For awhile, I toyed with the name William (we'd call him Will), but then I realized the first three letters of his first and middle names would be the same.
ConnorsMommy 05-10-2007, 10:31 PM My middle name is Meredith. I have always hated it (lol) No significance, my Mom just liked it.
Debbie 05-10-2007, 11:15 PM I'm a boring Ann!!! but my first name is Deborah...I hate it ...everyone else born that year was spelled like a normal person Debra...my dad always says..
"deb or a" ...gggrr! can't let him know though:hug:
My sis born in 1976....Kari, you got it LYNN....LOL
Eden has a cool name and it was not intentional
Eden Lee Kessel ...the only vowel she has is E, and her initials spell ELK:smt036
scarlet 05-11-2007, 06:03 AM Mine is Danae (rhymes with renea)
I have no idea why I got that middle name, but I like it
And both my boys have two middle names, both have Watson, which is my maiden name.
So
FN: Cooper MN:Jameson Watson
FN: Parker MN: Emerson Watson
mine is Colette unfortunatly LOL
CadysMommy 05-13-2007, 10:35 PM My mom graciously gave us two middle names:
Judy Mae Marie
CadysMommy 05-13-2007, 10:37 PM Oh, yeah...and I gave each of my daughters each of my middle names...so:
Kaylin Marie
and
Cady Mae
How cute!
hpaterniti 05-29-2007, 09:46 PM My middle name is Asako........it is Japanese and the meaning is a piece of linen that my mom LOVED. Ok, is it weird?
My daughter also has a Japanese middle name......she is named after my grandmother......her's is Mitsu.
Eliana's Mommy 05-30-2007, 12:42 AM Jeannette - mom just picked it from a baby book as she liked it
Ingeborg - after my grandmother...it's German and a nickname for it is Inge .... I've been thinking about changing it as I'm NOT fond of it at all
