I saw that in today's paper....scary, isn't it? :sad5:

I've got a couple of Sesame Street bibs still, not sure if they came from Walmart or Target. We don't use them much anymore so I'm just gonna pitch them to be on the safe side.

It said they had been sold since 2004. :sad5: I don't think we have any Sesame Street ones, but thanks for the heads up!

OMG! :yikes:

I found the bibs....stuffed in the back of the drawer, since I don't use them anymore...and guess what? I'm 99% sure that they are the recalled ones. Sesame Street characters, manufactured in 2004 by Hamco, made in China.

Josh wore them all the time when he was first getting solids...you can see it in this pic, even. :sad5: I did later buy some cloth bibs that I still use. They are waterproof, but have no vinyl or plastic on them.

OOOH, SCARY, Miori! We never used vinyl bibs with Jack and all of Michael's vinyl bibs have been purchased at Target or Babies R Us.

I'd still check Michael's bibs...I honestly can't recall if I bought these at Wal-Mart or Target, since I shope at both frequently. But, if the ones you have are vinyl-backed and made by Hamco, I'd toss 'em!

I will check them, but I'm pretty sure they're all made by Circo.

Wow, that's scary! We bought all of ours at BRU though so I think we are in the clear. I know we don't have any Sesame Street ones for sure.

That's scary Miori that you had these!

Okay, wait. I just finished reading the article. WTH would the recall only apply to Illinois? Then they backtracked and said nationwide but you can only get a refund in Illinois? What's that all about? Just b/c Illinois has strict regulations and caught their error and they probably need to make officials here happy. But screw everyone else is that what they are saying. I say, you sell bibs w/hazardous lead levels in them then you are responsible for refunding the customer when word gets it out they need to be pulled off the market!

While I think it's ludicrous that they are only offering a refund in Illinois, I really don't care so much about that. they need to get the word out to EVERYONE to get these toxic bibs off of their children! We have some vinyl backed terry bibs from Wal-Mart. They aren't Sesame Street, but they are the Wal-Mart "Kid Connection" brand. Only thing is, the tag doesn't name the manufacturer, just Made in China. So, here's my question, how do you know if they were made by Hamco or not?? I just checked Wal-Mart.com, and the bibs we have aren't there. HMMMM, I think I will toss them.

Hey, here is a link to the actual recall from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. It doesn't name any brand in particular. It warns about any bib that is vinyl or has vinyl backing. Apparently they are ok until they start to tear and deteriorate, then they can expose the kids to lead. I still think I will throw mine away!

Well duh...I can't imagine any parent letting their kid wear a bib that is tearing apart. Actually, I guess I can, but I certainly wouldn't! Thank goodness we don't even use bibs anymore! LOL I never liked the vinyl backed ones anyway.

I'm with ya, gals...that is why I quit using the vinyl-backed bibs all together. I didn't see any reason to expose him to all that crud.

These are the ones we have now...they are a bit pricey, but worth it. I've used them for over a year and they have held up perfectly.

Oh, DUH! I HAVE those bibs! I forgot that they're WATERPROOF, or I would have been using them all along! :violent1: I'll have to pull them out tonight and order about 20 more of them! Thanks for reminding me, Miori!!!!!
