We went to Connor's feeding therapy appt today and while we were there, she tried to get him to eat a banana. He did try a tiny bite and then freaked out. After that he wanted nothing to do with the banana or anything else. His feeding therapist has decided to put feeding therapy on hold and have him evaluted by OT for sensory issues especially pertaining to food. She said that if he's not willing to play with it/touch it he is very unlikely to put it in his mouth. I have to say I agree with her and think it is a good idea. She thinks we won't be able to be seen by OT until the end of the month so until then I'm just suppose to keep doing the playdough ect. I'm ok with everything too since he is eating other foods so well. Today he had a Wendy's Kids meal and ate all 4 chicken nuggets and some fries:smt041 So, we'll have to see what OT thinks and then go from there.

That makes perfect sence...I love it when things make sence ....so often with this stuff it doesn't.....Did he freak on the banana or the whole ordeal? Did she feed it to him or did you and she watched?

First, we put it on his tray and he was all into it (we just unpeeled it a little so it wasn't too slimy) then once he took a bite he made a face. She kept trying different things to get him to take a bite like painting the tray with it and rewarding with bubbles but he was too far gone (lol)

What we are doing with Jason is putting shaving gel that turns into cream (not sure if that makes sense) and playing with his cars...driving them thru the gel, his hands get into it, but he doesn't really have a meltdown over it.

We tried it with whip cream and pudding....but he still won't put his hands near his mouth. Just keep trying....is he willing to make mud pies? that was another thing that our OT suggested.

I know exactly what shaving cream you are talking about (lol) I actually have some in my shower right now:evil4: I will have to give that a try. I havn't tried mudpies yet but he did play in a sand and water table at our friends house and did fine. So many of his sensory issues seem to be related to food. He will touch other things as long as they aren't food??? walks in the grass barefoot and also the sand.

Well I am glad things are progressing, can't wait to hear how the next one goes. And good for him on those chicken nuggets. :D
