I would like your opinion on the validity and/or benefit of IgG testing. My daughter, at 21 months, has only been eating solids for 6. She is only on whole foods, mainly organic, but she reacts to many things

IgE testing revealed nothing , as expected, because her reactions are slow and progressive. I know she is intolerant to milk, soy, eggs , beef, gluten, corn- as she gets really bloated , gassy and has diarhea. Red dye in meds is also an issue. The thing is, it is hard to tell, but she seems really intolerant to grapes, apple, and many other benign things.

I dont want to put her thru useless tests, and the 1000 dollars is a lot to fork over for useless testing . I will ask her ped, but we only see him every 6 months under our healthcare system here.

I value your opinion, as this type of food allergy testing seems to be an issue of debate- as many private labs here are profiting from it enormously.

Thank you

johanne

Hi,

I have not read of this test being valid. I know our local allergists don't use it. To pay 1000$ to do this seems absurd to me. I would be interested in seeing what your pediatrician feels about this, but that is my take on the situation.

Good luck, Dr. Olson
