Are your parents still living? No.
If not, what did they die from? My father died in 1990 at age 67 from prostate cancer. My mother died in 2005 at age 71 from (suspected) breast cancer.
Which parent are/were you closer to? My father. He was an amazing man. Mom was a self-absorbed, bitter alcoholic (redundant much?)
Are your parents still married to each other? If so, how long have they been married? My parents had been married for 17 years and I was 17 when my dad died. (Mom was 8 months pregnant with me when they got married.) It was the second marriage for both of them.
How many brothers and sisters do you have? (“Full” only…1/2s and steps are addressed later.) None from my parents' marriage.
Where do you fall in the birth order (oldest/only, somewhere in the middle, youngest)? Only
Did you/do you like your place in the birth order? Yes...I like how independent it made me and with all of my mom's problems our house was wacky enough. I can't imagine how much more stressful things would have been with more kids around.
If your parents are divorced (or widowed) and have remarried, how many ½ or step-siblings do you have? Duh...I should have worded this to include your parents' previous marriages before you were born, like my own situation. Anyway, I had one half-sister from my father's first marriage who died long before I was born in 1958 in an infamous school fire in Chicago. I also have 3 half-brothers from my mom's first marriage who I didn't meet until I was 32 and after my/our mom died. They came to the memorial I hosted at my house.
Do you get along with your step-parent(s) and “other” siblings? I get along best with my oldest half-brother, but in a lot of ways, they're still strangers to me. It was sad for me to hear about the hell our mother put them through, too.
How many nieces and nephews do you have (from “all” siblings)? I have 1 niece from my oldest brother, and 2 nieces and 3 nephews from my youngest brother. The middle one never married or had kids.
Are/were any of them GERDlings? My oldest brother's daughter might have been. It was called "colic" back then. :razzing:
Did you have pets when you were a kid? (Kinds, names?) Nope. My parents bought "me" a Betta fish once, but took it away from me because they claimed my bedroom was too cold. They named it "Baby".
What kind of house(s) did you grow up in? My parents never owned a house together. We always lived in two-flats.
Did you have your own room? Yes.
What kind of neighborhood did you grow up in? A working middle-class neighborhood that was very close-knit despite being very densely populated. (Totallly "six degrees of separation".) It was right outside the Chicago city limits, so it felt more "urban" than suburban.
Did you go to public or private school; or were you homeschooled? Public school.
Did you like school? I liked the social aspect of school (for the most part). Even though I was "smart", I didn't like doing homework, projects and writing papers, so I often skimmed by on grades.
What’s your favorite childhood memory? When my dad would be on vacation during my summer breaks from school and we'd "tour" Chicago. We'd go to the museums and the zoos and just "hang out" together. I learned a lot from him during those trips and just in general.

We had Jake about 15 years, and each of the dogs (mostly one or two at a time, but Smooch, Bo, & Luke were Crackerjack's puppies.)
What kind of house(s) did you grow up in? 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath ranch that my Mom drew up plans for. She laid all the groundwork for building it while my Dad was in Korea in the army.
Did you have your own room? Yup, oldest kid rocks! Actually, we both had our own room.
What kind of neighborhood did you grow up in? I grew up on 10 acres in the country - complete with fishing pond and barn. Our neighbors were all at least 1/4 mile away and were all elderly. There was always someone to watch out for us.

If not, what did they die from? My mom died in 2002 from amyloidosis, which is a rare blood protein disorder. It's a horrible, horrible disease. She'd hardly been sick a day in her life and then was diagnosed in January 2002 and died in July 2002.

its just that some people not in my family have refered to me as a 1/2 ... same with my sons bro's and sis's by his dad ( he really doesn't know that and if people asked him he'd probably only say he had Alexis for a sis) but if any of them do get brought up i don't say half...

though i do understand there is quite a dif if your raised with the 1/2 siblings as i have been or like my so Dylan who doesn't know his 1/2 siblings in seatle... and has only seen triniti and zack a few times

Are your parents still living? My mom is, my Dad died in 2001 at the age of 57.
If not, what did they die from? My dad died suddenly, at home, of a gastro bleed. He also had extensive dental work done the day he died and we don't know if that contributed to his death.
Which parent are/were you closer to? Probably my Dad - I could tell him anything and he wouldn't rat me out like my Mom would.

(Kinds, names?) oh yes too many to name, at one time we had 14 chesepeke bay retrievers, my dad was a big duck hunter so they bred them, we had a bird dogs, i had a bunny as a child named buffy he lived for 10 years, he was the sweetest and smartest bunny i ever seen ;( i had hamsters.., my mom had 500 fish at one time as well, she was real into breeding angel fish and guppies. it was neat.
What kind of house(s) did you grow up in? a ranch house surrounded by about 9 wooded acres, i miss that privacy , i guess thats why i dont love living in this subdivision.
Did you have your own room? i did, when my granny passed away i moved in that room. i thought i was punky brewster too with my pink and purple colors. lol. i shared a room with my brother for the first 9 years of my life.. i was glad to get away from him lol
