It is sometimes hard for me to image everyone sitting at their computer glued to ird.

What is it like were you live? Is it a big city, a suburb or the country? Do you live in an apartment or a house or etc...? Do you like your neighbors, live near your family, etc? What is the weather like?

Where do you ird? A laptop anywhere in the house, or a desktop computer ??? where?

I live in St. Louis, Missouri. The weather can be extreme - hot in the summer (100 degrees) and cold in the winter. I live in a house in a subdivision in the suburbs of St. Louis - about 30 minutes from downtown. Our neighbors are our best friends - there is a group of 5 houses and a total of 12 kids under 7 years old. They all play together everyday and we all usually eat dinner together at least once a week. Our families live about 10 minutes away. (I did not go far from home - I could walk to where I went to grade school).

I ird on a laptop anywhere I can steal a minute - but usually on the couch in the living room. We also have a desktop - but my husband is usually on that one - (and Emily - I can't get my sig stuff to work on either:evil4: )

I live n a small farming town called Enumclaw about 40 miles southeast of Seattle, at the base of Mt. Rainier. (Any NASCAR fans? Kasey Kahne went to my high school!) My whole family with the exception of 2 aunts live in the same town, and those aunts are within driving distance. My inlaws live in the next town over (about 10 minutes away) so we have lots of help with the baby. I actually grew up here, left town and swore I'd never come back, but here I am anyway. It's actually a charming little place - great for raising kids. I actually teach at the High School where I graduated (although I took this year off). DH and I own a tiny little home built in 1920, but we've updated it and remodeled pretty much everything. Our weather here is very mild because we're so close to the ocean, but we do get a lot of wind and rain. I "IRD" on a desktop in our little office, usually while Roman sleeps. Here are some pics of our quaint little town:

Where I live is on the outskirts of Perth, so we have lots of tree and bush area but also lots of houses. My yard is pretty big compared to most here, but not huge. Our house would be a pretty normal size too for 2adults, 2 kids.

There is about 1.5million people in our city area and that would be in a 1.5hour drive either way from my house area KWIM?

We have neighbours, one set are really nice and their 3 kids have just moved out over the last year or so, so they party a lot LOL, on the other side we don't talk to much, we only learn't that their duaghter and her daugter were living with them for a year, we heard it cry but it assumed that they were visitors.

I can hear the people up the road through our moniter and I hear it cry a lot and it makes me sad cause it has reflux.

Weather gets real hot in summer and coldish in winter, never snows, I used to live 5 min from my family but everyone moved so now it is like 30min away (YAY LOL)

My brother Mitch is living with us and he always leaves his computer on, so I will go on that one if I am checking in quick, but generally I use a laptop on the couch or on the bed, but now my back is starting to hurt from that so I try and be good and sit at the kitchen table (which is where I am now)

I live in the city of San Antonio, Texas. Actually in the city, about 10 miles north of downtown. There are over 1.2 million people in the city proper and almost 2 million in the metropolitan area. Despite this, the city has a very welcoming, family-friendly feel to it.

I have a two-story 1970's house that I'm renovating one room at a time and not making a whole lot of progress as I'm continually short on TIME! :toothy10: My neighbors are friendly, but we're not buddy-buddy with any of them. I work and a lot of them don't so they're kind of clique-ish. My son has a group of boys he runs around with, but Catherine has no playmates, despite the fact the next-door neighbor has a 2 1/2yo girl. Not that Catherine would actually play with her, but it would be nice if they included her. KWIM?

The weather is pleasant here about 7 months of the year, cold (and yes, I know "cold" is relative) about 2 months and unbearably hot during the summer. I'm good with the pleasant and the hot; I don't do cold very well, lol.

I have a laptop that lives in our TV room. I usually sit on the couch with it on my lap. dh has a desktop in the study, but I don't touch his and he doesn't touch mine, lol! I try not to touch it unless the kids are in bed or otherwise engaged.

We don't have much family ... my sister and my dad and dh's mom and sister all live on the east coast of the U.S. That's all there is of us!

I live in Sydney Australia in a little suburb called Picnic Point. It is about 20mins drive from the city on the freeway and is close to everything. We are only 20 mins from the beach, 30 mins to the blue mountains and 2 mins to the river. We live in a very leafy green suburb and people are lovely. We have a quiet street with a dead end and lots of elderly people so it is QUIET as can be. We live in a small house, but it is in a well to do suburb so we can't complain. We bought it off my FIL a few years ago and would love something bigger but it is good for now. My family live far from me, my mum and dad are 3 hours away:sad5: and my twin sister is 6 hours drive away in the country :sad5: i miss her the most. I think that we will move eventually the coast or something but we like it here for now.

I live in a small farming town of about 5000 people, although Columbia, a college town of 100,000 is just 15 minutes away. We live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath ranch in a small village on the outskirts of the small town. Our weather? Well, you already read Christine's post, so ditto that. Missouri is Missouri is Missouri no matter where you are in Missouri. I like the small town for raising kids, but for my sanity, I'm glad that Columbia (and a real hospital) are so close. Our neighbors are friendly (except dh's ex-wife, but that's another story), but we dont' have block parties or anything like that. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves, but do stick together when something happens. I IRD on a desktop in our bedroom.

I live in a cute little town that I am completely in love with. We live in a old old beautiful blue house. (it kinda reminds me of bear and the big blue house, kinda doll house looking) my neighborhood is perfect with all older homes and mature trees lining the streets. According to all of Emilia's friends, we live on the best block in town because we share it with dairy queen. LOL
It's just a hop skip and a jump from down town, and we like to go down there and window shop and catch movies at our cool old theater, and if there's a parade they actually line up on our street! It's way cool, and Eric just LOVES it. We also have a park within walking distance and a library! FUN FUN FUN

I think our weather is perfect other than winter lasting about 1 month too long. We get all 4 seasons and they are all gorgeous, and we celebrate each season's arrival.
I am finally HOME in every sense of the word. I don't EVER want to leave! DH is up for new orders this fall and I'm so scared. We have plan A to Z reeling around our heads, but nether of us knows for sure what will happen or where it will take us. I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE!!!! I can honestly say I can imagine myself growing old in this house. It's the first time I have ever felt this way.

My awesome 24in intel imac computer is in the living room, but it can make ANY room in the house look good ;). I get to look out my window and watch people walk by with their cute little dogs and children all the time while I IRD, but at the same time I have an anal neighbor who is always doing yard work out there and making me look bad. oops!

I gotta go and enjoy this sunny day. I have already been on here too long and I have plenty of gardening to do.

We've lived here in Albuquerque since 2001 and in our house (our first house, which we built) since 2002. I love our neighborhood -- there's a lot of young families but also retired couples. Most people work on the base for the air force or government labs. Seems like everyone but me has a security clearance. Lots of families are like us -- new to the area and far from family, so we really bond. We're very close with our neighbors, who have a son a year younger than Daniel. It is a given that we do holidays together.

I IRD in the office, mostly in the mornings when I'm up with the puppy but D is still sleeping. The office is in the front of the house, where I can watch for D's bus. The back of our house has big windows with mountain views. I love it here!

I have lived in Richmond, KY (about 15 miles outside of Lexington) for the past almost 4 years. It's a fast growing college town with a little over 30,000 people...most of those that live here and commute to Lexington for work. I work here in town, but my dh drives to Lex every day.

We live on the outskirts of town in the "country" in a split-level 2400 sq. ft. brick home sitting on one acre of land. Our home has 3BR, 2.5BA, study, bonus room, garage, deck, and basketball goal. Our yard is huge, but we back up to the interstate and also have a busy road in the front of our house. Across the street from us is a field of cows. LOL We've lived here for a year this month, but I'm already wanting to move. Our neighbors are older and although they are nice, there aren't any children for my kids to play with. Also it's not really a neighborhood, so my kids don't have anywhere to ride their bikes, scooters, or inline skates. :sad3: We love the space, but otherwise I wish we would have waited to find something else.

The weather here is probably similar to St. Louis. One day it will be 30F and the next will be 80F. If you don't like the weather in Kentucky...wait a minute. :smt036 We have very humid summers and typically mild winters, aside from the occasional ice storm. I IRD on a desktop at work and also a desktop in the living area at home. We have two desktops at home, both which are typically occupied by my older children. Therefore, I just purchased my first laptop yesterday. :yahoo:

we live in burlington ontario (about 20 min from Toronto) population 150,000. Growing up I never thought I would stay here as an adult OR end up living in the house I grew up in (presently undergoing major renovations that started last August when we bought the house but have slowed right down since all of Evagelique's stays in the hospital etc) . . . my parents built a house right behind us (and thank God as they have been a Godsend for me (not sure if dh feels that way all the time lol)
we have all four seasons here - hot hot summers and freezing cold winters.
friendly neighbours but most of them are much older . . . so no block parties on this street and no kids the same ages as mine.
I am very close to both my sisters - one lives in town about 15 minutes away and the other lives in Lorne Park about 20 minutes away. My DH made the sacrifice and moved here when things got serious with us so all his family and friends are in Barrie about an hour drive from here)
I am in the same boat as Niki and ird on my laptop all hunched over . . . bad!!

I live Hammond not sure how big it is but it is pretty big. I live about 20 min away from downtown Chicago and 5 min away from downtown Hammond. I live in a house that was built in the very early 1900's. As for my neighbors,on one side is a woman who has 5 kids and doesn't wacth any of them. The youngest(22months old) runs the streets when ever she wants. The other side is and old couple who are very nice. I live about 10-20 minutes away from all of my family. Some live in IL and others live her in IN.

I live in the city of Kenosha, WI. I believe our population is about 80,000; right smack between Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL. We have seasons here; it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Just last week it was cold, like in the 30s and todays it's in the 80s, so you just never know what the day might bring. All my family lives in Kenosha with the exception of one of my aunts. Right now we live in a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom, 2 car garage ranch on a double lot. We have a huge yard for Aubrey (and Jayda) to play in and also have a pool. We'd like to move sometime in the near future so we are keeping our eyes open for houses, or we might build. Not sure yet. Our neighbors are nice, but mostly older couples.

I IRD the most when I am at work (naughty, I know :angry7: ). When I IRD at home, I usually do it at night after Aubrey goes to sleep or when she is taking a nap. We have a desktop in what used to be our computer room...it's now become Aubrey's playland with a computer desk, LOL.

I live in subdivision just outside Newark, Delaware and the University of Delaware. I've lived in Northern Delaware most of my life except for going to college and graduate school in Baltimore. Delaware may seem small and insignificant but in the northern part of the state we are about 25 miles outside of Philadelphia, 60 miles from Baltimore and a little over a 2 hour train ride from NYC. In the southern part of the state we have some great beaches which from my house I can get to in about 2-3 hours depending on traffic. The best thing of all about Delaware is NO SALES TAX!!!

We moved into this subdivision as it was finished being built so there were many new families with 7 babies all born the same year as Ali. Unfortunately many have moved in the past 10 years we have been here and we almost followed when the neighbors from h*** moved in next door. We got lucky and they soon moved on (a story I must tell at a later date). We were happy they moved as we really did not want to especially since Ali's best friend lives next door - they are exactly 3 months apart in age. Since we decided to stay we have done a lot of home improvements as did our next door neighbors so the plan is for both famiies to stay here for good.

My family lives very close here in Delaware and DH's family lives just over the PA line about 30 minutes away.

The weather is hot and sticky in the summer and not too cold in the winter with about 5-6 snowfalls sometimes producing unusually high amounts.

I use the computer in my office which is the spare 4th bedroom but we are in the process of turning our living room (formerly the playroom) into a study where there will be another computer.

I am in a small village outside the city (by outside I mean 4 blocks :haha: ) It is a city atmosphere. The yards are not big enough at all. I love the street b/c the corner is the village pool and a huge park w/ playground and sand box and a baby wading pool and tennis and you get the idea. We also have the police station there so there are millions of cops up and down everyday. I have a teenager so I LOVE this!! Som neighbors are nice, some weird, some drink too much :drinkalot: , but they are all fun! We have block things. I am not "friends" w/ anyone but talk with a few moms. We live upstairs in a double and my parents live downstairs. It seems to be working great. DH and dad co-own the house so there isn't a power struggle. I IRD in the livingroom on a desk top. Again, we have a teenage boy so the computer stays in eye shot always. And trust me that still doesn't matter.

We have four seasons, spring has finally came! Hot summers and cold winters. That's what I love now I need 4 seasons.

I forget the other questions.

We live in Elkhorn Wisconsin.....a small town that is going to be building a Walgreen's this summer...it's all the the gossip....LOL
Our home is a 2 story ranch ...the upper level is loft the house is kind of Frank Lloyd Wright looking..very geometrical, esp for a ranch home...built in 1972. It's a nice home but we will not stay .....I want a level yard...we are on top of a hill so the yard slopes in every direction.
Dh and I grew up in the town of East Troy which is about 10 mins from us...my kids all went to school there.....East Troy is famous for it's amphitheater Alpine Valley...where Stevie Ray Vaughn was killed in a helicopter accident.
I used to IRD on a PC in our bedroom ....now I have made the girls room into an office seeing as Jen moved out and Eden never comes home:sad3: That's where am am right now.:smt036
Our neighbors are nice we are not friends with them although my dh talks to the other guys all the time...it's some kind of man bonding ????

I live in a small city, Calgary, Alberta. Moved here 10yrs ago from big big city, Montreal, Quebec. It took me awhile to adjust but I really like it here now. It's a city but it feels quite small and everyone is very friendly and outdoorsy. We live 45min from the Rocky Mountains. Our weather is the pitts. Long winters, although not very cold and not much snow. We get chinooks, a very warm stream of air that makes it like summertime in the middle of winter. Summers are nice, fairly hot but really cools down at night because of the mountains. Not much spring or fall here. I love to garden but it's very frustrating here.
We are in a new house that we built 2 yrs ago. The rest of our street is just being finished. We don't really know the neighbors much yet. :sad3: I've tried to meet them but not much luck. Our house backs on to the city boundry which means we have a farm right behind us. Horses and chickens. It also means we have coyotes, moose, deer and cougars walking through our yard! I would love to live in the country on a farm. My husband and I (I am off right now) both work at hospitals in the city though.
My family all lives in this city but at the other end. They are about an hour away. Wish THEY were next door. Especially my sister.
I use the computer in our office. I can easily spend hours on IRD after the kids are in bed. I'm supposed to be doing school work. I'm working on my bachelor degree.

Well, we just moved out of Denver metro area, after 5 years in the city. Way too busy, too much traffic, crime on the rise in our area...you get the idea.

So, we moved back to the town I grew up in...the thing I said I'd never do, while in my rebelious teenage years. Fort Collins is a college town, home to Colorado State University, with a population of about 130,000. It's a great town, and is constantly named one of the best places in the US to live, retire, raise kids, etc. You can check it out here: http://www.ftcollins.com/

We live in a 3bdr, 2 bath Ranch, built in the 1960's. It's all brick, hardwood floors, gas fireplace in the den, a huge sunroom that is Josh's playroom now...my parents have owned it for about 8 yrs as a rental and we plan to buy from them in a few years. We've got to sell our townhome in Denver first. We don't know the neighbors very well yet, since we've only been here a few weeks, but my mom is just a few blocks away so that has been great! There is a nice park nearby and we have gone there a few times too, and it's mostly toddlers in the daytime.

I'll try to post some pics of the new house soon...I know some of you have been asking about them.

The weather in Colorado is great...we are very lucky. People picture Colorado as all snow, but that is ski areas really. We have over 200 days of sunshine each year here, even in the Winter. Lately, it's been in the 50's - 70's most days, sunny and nice. Today it was 74! :) Spring is here, which is so pretty, but my allergies are just awful right now!

I IRD on my laptop, most of the time of the kitchen table when Josh is napping and I'm eating lunch. In the evening, dh works on the desktop in our office/3rd bedroom, and I sit on a recliner next to him with the laptop - which is where I am now, lol.

This is so fun to hear about where everyone lives, I now have a picture in my head (which is probably nothing like reality) so it's kind of neat.

Anyway, here I go...

What is it like were you live? Is it a big city, a suburb or the country? Do you live in an apartment or a house or etc...? Do you like your neighbors, live near your family, etc? What is the weather like?

Where do you ird? A laptop anywhere in the house, or a desktop computer ??? where?

We live in what is referred to as the "Far North Suburbs" of Chicago. (The North suburbs are the very wealthy ones so a distinction has to be made. LOL) It's just under an hour's drive to get to the city. We bought our house in Gurnee (home to Six Flags Great America and Gurnee Mills outlet mall) in the fall of 2001 as we had been married for 4 years at that point and were planning on starting a family (not knowing that was going to take a little longer than expected). Our house backs to woods so that is very nice, just neighbors on the side but they are very nice too (now that the one jerky ones moved away and a very nice Mormon family moved in that plays the classical piano all the time which I love in the summer when they windows are open). Our house is two stories, 4 BR's, 2.5 baths, lots of room, espeically now that we just finished half the basement. It is about 10 years old so we haven't had to do a lot of work, although I would like to re-do the kitchen. We have mainly just painted and refinished the wood floors and got new carpet. We have an average sized yard, which is fine since neither of us are into yardwork and there is a huge park district park right by our house for the boys as they get older. We are also right by all of the schools so they will be able to walk to school when they get older. We don't know our neighbors very well, most of them are a few years older w/older children and seeing that we both work we don't get to talk w/them very often. But everyone is friendly when we do see them and now that the weather is nicer and we are part of the "parent club" we have been conversing w/them a little more these days. Interestingly enough there a 4 sets of twins and one set of triplets all on my one street. My sister and her family live very close, about a 10 minute drive. And my parents used to live about 5 minutes away until they moved to Florida 2 years ago to semi-retire.:sad5: We miss them alot. My brother and SIL live about an hour away in the western burbs. Same for DH's family.

The weather now is getting warmer, we definitely have all three seasons, with winter unfortunately being one of the longest. I love summer so the 80 degree weather over the weekend was wonderful!

Ok, here goes.
I live 60 miles south of St Louis, but it was easier just to put St Louis, no one knows where Park Hills is. :evil4:
It is a small town, very small. We live on a quiet street, small white house. We like our neighbors on either side. No neighbor kids, except for Alexis. LOVELY, she is all the way on the end. The girls go to the same school that I went to. Hmm... I IRD on a desktop, in our "office"

Is that it? I think so... Oh, and dh wants to move. That's all. :smt036

Here it goes:

I live in Bakersfield, California. It is considered somewhat of a small town for California. We are about 90 miles from Los Angeles and 90 miles from Fresno.

It is hot here in the summers - it reaches 112 degrees in July and August and usually stays above 100 degrees those months. In the fall and winter, it averages about 65 and never gets cold. We never have a heating bill. But we definitely have a A/C bill. There are a few kids on our street, but not many.

My older sister lives here, and my younger sister lives in Fresno, California. It is nice to have my sisters here. We relocated to Bakersfield for my husbands job and lived five years before that in Reno, Nevada.

I grew up in Helena, Montana so California is a different lifestyle for me. I miss the easiness and small town atmosphere of Montana, but like being close to my sisters.

I usually IRD from my computer in my bedroom when the girls finally go to sleep. That's all!

You can check it out here: http://www.ftcollins.com/ (http://www.ftcollins.com/)

I'll have to come back and read all the replies when I have more time! :-)

I live on the Jersey Shore in a beach town. Small-ish town right on the water with an ecclectic mix of homes. Mostly turn-of-the-century Victorians (they look like gingerbread houses!) with huge wraparound porches, but also some ranch homes and newer homes, too. Also an ecclectic mix of people. Several Wall Streeters near the water (they all take the ferry to work), some older locals further inland and lots of summer renters during the beach season.

I live in a 3-level Victorian with a wraparound porch. The house has a turret and that round room downstairs is the office, where I IRD. I have a PC (can't talk dh into a laptop). The office is just off the living room, so I plop B in front of a video and IRD for a few minutes until she's distracted by something shiny and runs off (meaning I have to go chase her).

Did I leave anything out? :-)

I live in Celestine, Indiana about 4 hours East of St Louis, 1hr 15mins West of Louisville Kentucky.

I access IRD from work as I do not have internet at home. Sometimes I use it at a friend's but now I have a wireless card so I can use it in the next town over.

Celestine has a population of about 200ish. The do not deliver mail here so I have to pick it up at the p.o. It's is nice, quiet and peaceful here...the roads are hilly and curvey. It's the county but not country country living.

I have one neighbor downstairs. He is hardly home. Next door is a bar/resturaunt. My family lives 4 1/2 and 8 1/2 hours away.

Currently the weather is 80 degrees and it's perfect as the summer will be hot and humid upper 90's-100's.

What is it like were you live? Is it a big city, a suburb or the country? Do you live in an apartment or a house or etc...? Do you like your neighbors, live near your family, etc? What is the weather like?

Where do you ird? A laptop anywhere in the house, or a desktop computer ??? where?

I live in Cleveland, Ohio. One of the poorest big cities on the map. I live IN the city, but in a very suburban-like neighborhood with mostly middle-income white collar and blue collar folks. I live in a small 1000 square foot ranch house, slab foundation that has been worked on, renovated and needs more work (now that I figured out that my ex was a horrible handyman...lol). Three bedrooms, two of them are very small, two without adequate heat. I have a small corner lot, but it's in a very good location, quiet, out of the way, and on the better side of the neighborhood. My girls have a swingset/slide/fort in the back yard, I have a little patio, with my outdoor table, grill, post lamps, and we have a lots of get-togethers here...there's been much beer consumed on that patio...I almost gave up the house to foreclosure, because I couldn't afford it. I even had an apartment, but in the end, I decided that my girls need a place to play, a place to be comfortable and well, it's safe and secure with a huge privacy fence. I can let them out to play and NOT have to be right at their side all the time. Being a single homeowner with an overmortgaged house is such a pressure sometimes, but it's worth it. The repairs will be hard and my lawn is barely landscaped...I hate cutting the lawn...lol. The neighbors...well, I was very good friends with an older neighbor and he passed away IN my house about a month back, taking care of our puppy, so I don't really have any close neighbors. I try to be polite to them all and we tend to look out for each other's kids, so it all works out well. I'm the favorite neighbor, because of my dislike of yardwork, and my sometimes loud get-togethers, but I don't have them often. Being a single mom is not looked on kindly by the neighbors, but well...who cares! My family lives in the ghetto on the east side of town about 15 minutes from me via freeway and I live on the west side, which is part of the reason that I don't get as much help from them as my other sisters...I decided to move AWAY!

Weather...well, extreme weather...we never can tell what's going to happen. Winter can be mild or insanely cold, summer can be mild or insanely hot and well...the other seasons...who knows, there's no clear cut season in Ohio. All I know is that there's winter, more winter, then more winter...then CONSTRUCTION! Orange barrell seasons sucks.

I IRD and MySpace on my desktop in my little computer armoire in my living room! It's a good place for it. I don't feel bad letting the kids watch a movie while I play online, cuz after all, we ARE all in the same room.

We live in Phx Arizona in a 4 bedroom house.I love all of our neighbors and we get together with them often. There are 17 kids just in our culdasac alone! We live in a cultasac and my Brother and his family live right across the street which is really nice. It gets extremely hot here during the summer, sometimes up to 115 degrees but hey, it's a dry heat(lol) The winter's are mild but I'm a wimp and get cold if it goes below 75 degrees. I Ird on our computer that is in the office but would love to get a laptop so that I'm not always ignoring Dh!
