My son is on Prevacid, erethromycin and occasional Mylanta. Would probiotics be something that could help him? An ER doc we recently saw suggested this, but in the mayhem that is the ER, I forgot to get further info from him before we were discharged. ANy recommendations?

Probiotics is good bacteria. When taking antibiotics it eats all your good bacteria. So, yes probiotics would be good to take. My pedi suggested it as back in Nov 06 Eliana was on 40 days of antibiotics as well as 3 antibiotic shots. She also stated it would be ok to give when not on meds/antibiotics. Never huts to get good bacteria. Since Eliana can not ahve milk yogurt is out as yogurt has the good bacteria in it.

I would definitely recommend the probiotics. I went to Whole Foods after our dr. recommended them. There are quite a few of them designed for babies/children, but you have to be careful because all of those that I found had lactose or milk in them and it looks like that's not an option for you, just as it wasn't for us. Our pediatrician said that an adult version without milk is fine. You just dump the powder out of the capsule and we mixed it in babyfood, but formula works just as well. We used about 1/2 capsule once a day. If you have questions as far as which bacteria your dr. would recommend they take and how much to give them if you can't find a baby version milk-free, then I'd give them a call and get a recommendation.
