Peanut has Laryngo. When she was a newborn it sounded like a freight train in her baby monitor!! It has now somewhat resolved, although once in a while I'll here a baby donkey noise coming from the stroller :smt036

Myles saw the ENT on Monday and he is 90% sure he has larymgomalacia. We go in for the laryngoscopy to confirm the diagnosis this coming Monday.

Now I understand why your little one is still having swallowing issues at his age. He will contiune to until that is resolved. Carsons was almost fully resolved when he finally gave up his bottle for the sippy cup almost full time and was doing w/o thickeners in his drinks. He still at times will strangle on water but I think its a kid thing (plus we as adults do the same). So my answer to the other post of letting him stay w/ the bottle until he is comfortable to give it up on his own still goes... until he is able to swallow better he won't give it up. Carsons milk used to look like oatmeal because I had to thicken it so much.

I voted yes on Lary, but I'm not sure if I should have.

Eric's GI says YES he did (he met him after things got better, so how does he know?), but Eric's ENT says that he thinks his adenoids were to blame for loud breathing all along.

I think I agree with the GI. Eric's adenoids were different than the noise he made as a baby, and back then he could breath out of his nose just fine, even though it didn't sound like it.

If you're trying to find a connection, there is one.
One of the complications listed for Lary is
"Increased likelihood of gastroesophageal reflux"

I don't know if you already read this, but it's a good one

Angela,

Honestly, I don't know! Does an ENT have to diagnose this? As far as I know, Elisabeth only has GERD.

Angela,

Honestly, I don't know! Does an ENT have to diagnose this? As far as I know, Elisabeth only has GERD.

An ENT can diagnosis it, so can a pediatrician. However they need to usse a scope to diagnosis it properly. We were told by the ER doc at Childrens when Carson was about one month old that he thought for sure carson had both Laryngo and Tracheomalacia and he automaticly consulted an ENT when he admitted Carson. Of coarse Carson had a lot going on on that first admission to the hospital, it was to rule out sepsis, they did a spinal tap and the whole 9 yards. They also got a GI consult and got the ph probe in, along w/ the ENT doing his first scope (later he did a rigid bronch on his lungs to confirm the tracheomalacia which also confirmed serious aspiration from reflux)... I could go on... that first year w/ carson was HORRID! We were constantly on an uphill battle at the hospital! WE also had lung specialist too..
