View Full Version : What movie(s) do you LOVE that other people HATE?
Em's mention of Groundhog Day made me think of this.
I loved Groundhog Day but I know a lot of people (DH and Em included) who didn't like it. I"m a big "Clockwork Orange" fan, too.
And then, what movie(s) do you HATE that other people LOVE?
I didn't understand the raving over "4 Weddings and a Funeral".
I know I have plenty more answers for both questions. I just have to remember them. ACK.
Emily M 04-11-2007, 07:36 PM Hmm..
"Bridges of Madison County" I loved it. My dh HATED IT. He fell asleep. ROFL...
I will think of some more, I'm sure.
Oh... "The English Patient" :sign11: (I hate, dh liked) ROFLMAO...

scarlet 04-11-2007, 08:21 PM Well at least we agree on the English Patient, that was the worst movie ever. I loved groundhog day LOL
The only movie I nearly walked out at the movies was Boogie Nights, again it got raves, but the acting was really bad.
kimber 04-11-2007, 08:29 PM Hi
Geez, let me think about Dh's movie collection...LOL
Mmmmm.....not a fan of the Star Wars movies....blah!
Don't care for James Bond flicks...couldn't even sit through the most recent
I think most people wouldn't be thrilled with my movie choices
I don't like anything too far fetched, but I like serious movies that make you think...good or bad
I like sundance movies...foreign films etc
Yeah, Stars Wars - I hate those movies. They are so boring. Also, Gladiator. DH loves it and I cannot stand to watch it.
I love Napoleon Dynamite...I'm sure there are people that think it's dumb but I love. "GOSH!"
Christine 04-11-2007, 09:22 PM Oh - I love Boogie Nights!
I can't stand Forrest Gump. I am also the only person I know who has never seen Titanic.
AvasMommy 04-11-2007, 09:34 PM NOpe, Christine, I've never seen Titanic either...or The Notebook, Under the Tuscan Sun...any of that romantic crap.
The movie that I hated that everyone raved about was Sideways. Hated it!
I too, love Groundhog Day...it's just like waiting tables, in that the same people come in and order the same thing everyday, and talk about the same crap.
I'm not a Star Wars fan, I don't like Bond, and I'm not a big action fan either.
Strictly comedy, mostly.:evil4:
Becky in NM 04-11-2007, 09:36 PM I've never seen Titanic, either. I'm quite proud of that fact.
Minnie 04-11-2007, 09:46 PM I'm so jealous that some of you never saw Titanic. I wish I could say the same.
All the movies I like DH hates, and visa versa. It's very rare that we both enjoy the movie we watched. Most of the time I fake it though. LOL
He likes action movies and simple plotted movies that move along and end like you expect them to. KWIM?
I like Donnie Darko, mementos, and movies that just take you completely out of the norm or end with a jaw dropping surprise.
I also like movies that make you cry and feel deeply, and DH HATES that. I'm not taking sappy love stories, but movies like the color purple. KWIM?
We both liked Pulp Fiction though. That has to be one of my most favorite movies because we both watched in awe the whole entire thing. We bought that sucker!
I love "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" with George Clooney. My bff absolutely despises it.
I did not like the Matrix movies, The English Patient (and in fact, most of hte Award winners).

Hey, Minnie...you know that :censored: rabbit in Donnie Darko??!! I was once traumatized by a visit to the Easter Bunny when I was about 3 and it looked like that :censored: rabbit! I even have the picture (which is all taped up because I ripped it up). I should scan it and post it! (By the way, I really enjoyed Donnie Darko, too. I loooooove Jake Gyllenhaal!)
Minnie 04-12-2007, 08:03 AM EWWWWWWW!
Aim scan it in! Scan it in! I want to see
EWWWWWWW!
Aim scan it in! Scan it in! I want to see
Okay! I can't pull the scanner out while the kids are up, though, so I'll have to post it this afternoon.
It's really creepy! DH couldn't believe it when I showed him!
I loved Napoleon Dynamite, What About Bob, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show and every Monty Python movie ever made. My dh HATES all of the above. With a passion. He's into action flicks (I'll vomit if I have to watch another Die Hard installment...) and Mafia movies. I can handle the Mafia movies, but I don't like action/adventure movies. Give me a good, dry humor comedy or historical fiction movie any day.
Oh, and I quite liked "Girl with the Pearl Earring"...
DH and I are big fans of all the "Spinal Tap" mockumentary movies by that gang! Best in Show is HILARIOUS!
manda40475 04-12-2007, 12:30 PM Oh - I love Boogie Nights!
I can't stand Forrest Gump. I am also the only person I know who has never seen Titanic.
I like Boogie Nights as well. :) And you're not online on Titanic as I've never seen it either. Dh actually owns the VHS, but I've never had the desire to watch it. LOL
anna1 04-12-2007, 12:39 PM Definetly Napolean Dynamite, Me and dh loved it, all our friends hated it! I thought it was hysterical, God. :haha:
manda40475 04-12-2007, 12:41 PM I like Boogie Nights as well. :) And you're not online on Titanic as I've never seen it either. Dh actually owns the VHS, but I've never had the desire to watch it. LOL
You see what happens when you don't proofread your posts? LOL I meant to say you are not alone.
Maddie 04-12-2007, 02:22 PM I love Groundhog Day!!! My girlfriend and I in college would watch it every Sunday afternoon...sort of as a joke, but it stuck for 3 years. When we visit it's the first thing we do.
