The last psychiatrist appointment was very interesting, we established that we had to follow through more with things, which is what we knew but we didn't always because he was so sad, it was sort of like blackmail. So we give a warning and if it continues he gets the quiet chair.
The most intersting thing is when he has his temper tantrums we are to leave him till he settles and then have a talk to him, we are to say, Mummy and Daddy love you very much, but when you do "whatever the tantrum was/about" mummy and daddy don't like that behaviour. We still love you very much, but don't like it when you do that.
I know simple right? Well apart from one major meltdown when Em was here (and he was so tierd) he hasn't had any tantrums since the first couple of days of doing this. So YAY! Progress, now if we can stop him hitting Parkers back in a not so nice way...
With speech it is also improving, the holiday and one on one time has done wonders he has stopped blocking and elongating his words, and is back to a basic stutter, which sometimes sounds worse, is a lot better than what it was. The therapist was so pleased, basic stutters are pretty easy to deal with as it shows he has some control on the muscle and should be able to stop. Another YAY!
So as long as emotionally he is OK, maybe it will be enough to get rid of it completely, I hope so, it is school holidays so we have another 2 weeks to enforce it so fingers crossed.
