We got the results of Sebastian’s Early On eval today. He is slightly behind in fine motor because he can not stack 4 blocks, and she put him down as questionable in self help, because of his not chewing and refusing to use a spoon or fork.

It was enough to get him approved for services. She is going to set up a consultation with an OT that specializes in feeding issues. She has him down for one apt where she will evaluate him and give us tips on how to help him. If she (the OT) feels that he needs on going help they will set him up for regular therapy, if not Early On will continue to keep track of how he is doing for at least the next six months.

I am happy about it. It is one less thing for me to be stressed over. The only problem is that it will probably take a month to get the OT apt. It has already been one month since I first contacted Early On, so it is kind of a pain that there are so many steps and it takes so long, but at least I will finally be able to have a professional look at him and tell me if there is really something to be worried about or not.

I'm glad there's help for him. You are right about the stressing. Sam's first OT appt. is today at 4:00. She is going to come 2/week. I's so nervous. I hope I like her, I hope her and Sam click, and I hope she can offer some good feeding strategies, I am hoping I am not expecting too much...

Poor lady, she doesn't know what she's in for :smt036

Did she offer any tips to you?

Good luck! Ihope you and Sam like the therapist. She gave me some stuff to rea that has oral motor activities. Now I just have to find the time to read it.

I am glad you are getting the help you guys need.

I was curious about the stacking blocks thing too. That was not the only thing she looked at was it?

i remember when the parents as teaches lady was here - she was trying to find out if H understood object permance. She kept putting toys under a cloth and he did not care. She said I needed to work on that. Well - as soon as she left - I put a paci under the cloth and he went right for it. He just did not like her toys.
