Emily M 04-02-2007, 03:37 PM *sigh* so, Jack has been completely OFF since we got home. His days and nights are all out of whack, this is not really our problem.
Well, it is, but not the MAIN problem. He has figured out how to climb out of his bed. Yes, and he does it so gracefully that you don't hear him climb out and he doesn't fall, we watched him, he swings his leg over the side, strattles the top of his bed, grabs the other side and shimmies down. Very inventive I might add, I wonder how long he sat and tried to figure out how to do this.
So, today to get him to take his nap, I stood at the door while he screamed bloody murder, then he would climb out, I went back in and put him back in. This continued for 20 min. I know.
Anyone know how I can stop him? This is crazy. He will be climbing out at all hours. OMG.... things start going well then he figures out he can climb. :sad3: I mean, putting him back in is fine, but what about the middle of the night? :hairpull: He has been waking at 2am for the past three mornings and NOT going back to sleep. I need SLEEP...... :sad2:
Myrita 04-02-2007, 03:47 PM oh boy!! Time for a crib tent

Mind you pretty expensive, I saw them at Target for 30 bucks, so you might wanna take a look there first. Good luck, mama.
eaglemansbaby1124 04-02-2007, 03:51 PM Em you could always tie him in there:haha: . No seriously isn't he like two months younger then KC? He is gifted I tell you my girls didn't start climbing out til they were almost three years.

That is awesome Myrita... I will definetly check out Target first.
Lauren, yes he is 18 mos old. The girls never did climb out of their crib and they were in their crib until they were 2 1/2... :hairpull: Ankle and wrist straps did cross my mind this afternoon. :evil4:
my2guys 04-02-2007, 06:54 PM Emily,
Just like Myrita suggested....get the crib tent! My friend's kid was climbing out at 1 year old! She used that for a long time before he figured out how to unzip it!! Good luck!!!!!
amylou1977 04-02-2007, 09:02 PM OMG Dylan climbed out of the crib before he could walk at 10 mos he was in a toddler bed by 11 mos and a very low to the ground big boy bed ( it had been mine when i was small past around the family and then i got it back for Dylan its like the height of a toddler bed) he was flipped the toddler bed all around thats why we needed something heavier
stephiehatt 04-02-2007, 09:22 PM Yikes Emily! I think that is pretty good from a developmental perspective, although not so good from a mommy perspective. I am waiting for the day my Dylan figures this out b/c I already see him trying to climb on the side by standing on the bumpers (which are flimsy and just squash down anyway). I have starting always making sure the gate is closed b/c I have a friend who's son started doing this around the same age as Jack, like 16 mos. or something.
I have heard those crib tents work well.
Debbie 04-02-2007, 09:28 PM Well I'M NOT SUPRISED AT ALL...JACK WAS CLIMBING ON YOU LAWN FURNITURE LAST SUMMER...he's a very adventurous little boy:smt036
Dang I hate when I'm in caps and don't know it!!!!
I would suggest a baby gate at the bedroom door so he can't get out of the room...I would just be afraid he will lose his grip and fall and get hurt....maybe it's time for a toddler bed???
nikkib 04-02-2007, 10:40 PM i agree...time for a big boy bed?:sad5:
ConnorsMommy 04-02-2007, 11:04 PM Oh my, better you than me:razzing: Myrita has a great idea with the crib tent! I think Babies R Us also carries them:D That little guy of yours is amazing!
Emily M 04-03-2007, 04:27 AM Crib tent it is, he was up at midnight CLIMBING OUT.... and he is now up there banging on his door, I can hear him. :violent1:
Yes, when he figures out the zipper, we are in trouble. :sad5: :haha:
Miori 04-03-2007, 09:46 AM Oh boy....he is a STINKER, isn't he??!! :evil4: :evil4:
Hope the crib tent does the trick....I think I'd still put a gate on his door for safety too.
stephiehatt 04-03-2007, 09:52 AM I am thinking now that you better get a tall gate as since he has an aptitude for climbing an ordinary gate probably will not be much of a challenge for him! LOL
I had to chuckle at your post the picture of a little guy banging on his door "Let me out! Let me out!" just made me laugh.
Myrita 04-03-2007, 10:09 AM I think if he figures out the zipper, it's time for a big boy bed. Oh...he's gotten sooo big!!
kimber 04-03-2007, 01:29 PM OMG Em...that is too funny (not for you!)
Sorry!
I hope the crib tent works...what a smart little devil :)
Christine 04-03-2007, 09:12 PM Emily - did you get the tent?
This got me thinking......at what age do they get a toddler bed?
anna1 04-03-2007, 10:49 PM Oh my...I am late on this....hope the crib tent works, if not duck tape is really inexpensive...:haha: No, but seriously...does he have a bumper in his crib to use as a step? If the crib tent doesn't work, you can put him in a sleepsack, they make them pretty big, unless he can figure out a way out of that too. What a stinker! Good Luck Em.
Emily M 04-04-2007, 07:24 AM Christine, they say when they can climb out that it's time, but he is just too darn small.
The girls were 2 1/2.
I am trying to find the cribtent cheaper, but no one has it. :hissyfit: So, $80 isn't cheap, but for some sleep, I'm probably going to order it today. Chris said,"do it" we played hop out of the bed last night for 2 flippin' hours. :angry7:
And Steph, you are sooooo right, he will figure out the gate.
