View Full Version : Chiropractor anyone?
momof2monsters 03-15-2007, 02:27 PM My little Madi has been seeing a chiropractor now for about 2 weeks. She goes in for "adjusting" 3 times a week. We took her off of the Zegreid because it seemed she was getting more on her than in her. Put her back on the Prevacid since we could just stick it under her tongue.
Here is where my little "miracle" comes in. Madi is maybe having one episode of reflux a day if that. She is now off meds ( we took her off to do some experimenting). I am not sure if it is a fluke, if she outgrew it, or if the chiropractor is working wonders for her. She seems happier, sleeps better at night, ( just have to nip that 2 am feeding in the bud, more out of habit than being hungry I think). The initial exam with the chiro showed that she had some issues in her upper neck. He asked me if she had ever fallen or had an injury. I told him she did not but told him she was born by c section 2 weeks early. He thinks that she had an injury to her neck sometime during birth. She does try to move when he gets to a certian part of her neck. We have 3 more weeks of therapy to go and then she is done. We are thinking we will take her once a week after that. I am not sure what is going on here.
Anyone else tried the chiropractor with their children? What were your results?? I am just happy that she is happier and I am not doing wash all the time!!!
Thanks
Jennifer
manda40475 03-15-2007, 02:34 PM I haven't yet. I did go yesterday for myself and they were telling me they could work with infants. They talked about how much trauma was done to their bodies just from being in the womb. I'm not sure I completely believed them, but who knows. If it's working for you, then continue doing what you are doing. How long has your child actually been off the medications?
momof2monsters 03-15-2007, 03:15 PM She has been off the meds about a week. I do keep them on hand though in case she has a bad day but so far she has not had any issues being off the meds. The chiropractor we see is very nice and very gentle with her. He has another patient that is 2 weeks old that he is doing adjustments on. I am hoping this will help her out. Meds get expensive. Still trying to find a way to pay for hte Alimentum/Nutramigen. Tried switching her by doing 1/4 soy, 3/4 Nutramigen and she puked everywhere was like the Excorcist ( TMI sorry) could this mean a soy allergy?? I am not sure when they can start testing on her for allergies. So for now we will keep her on the Alimentum/Nutramigen just what ever we can get from the ped for samples.
Emily M 03-15-2007, 03:16 PM I started taking my son when he was 4 months old, and it has helped alot.
AT first we went every week, then every 2 weeks, now we are down to every month and are med free.
I'm so glad that it has helped your little one as well. That is great news!!! :smt041
Yvette 03-15-2007, 04:28 PM That's great news! I have my first chiro appointment for Jack in 2 hours. As well as the reflux (which seems to be starting to flare up again), he has uneven hips that we have to get an ultrasound done for and he really favours his left hand side. With all of that I thought it couldn't do any harm seeing a chiro. Will let you know what happens.

You just have to be consistent with it, KWIM? You can't go one time and think that it's going to solve it.
Good luck.
Yvette 03-15-2007, 05:20 PM Good point. If it helped with everything I think I would go every day! Will be interesting to see what the chiro thinks.
SoniaSeb 03-16-2007, 09:01 AM We did bring our son to the chiropractor for adjustments. We did see improvements as far as his posture was concerned. He would have a tendency of tilting his head and all body toward the right. He does favorite this side but he turns his head to the left much more now than before. As far as the reflux in concerned, we did not noticed much improvement but the baby’s reflux has not been that bad so far. He was a little bit sore due to the massages but that went away after a couple of days. We are going for more adjustments again. We think he still needs them. This will still help the baby somehow. I do not think it can hurt him!
The chiropractor said that the babies suffer trauma at birth during the “pushing” stage of the delivery. Some babies will come in and out during this “pushing”. Also, the use or forceps can cause trauma to the bodies. I was on the “pushing” stage for over an hour. I can image being squeezed in between bones for this long!
The person that recommended this chiropractor to us did have a baby with a severe case of reflux and going to the chiropractor help her baby’s reflux a lot. I do not now all of the details but because of her is that I got the idea of bringing my baby to the chiropractor.
momof2monsters 03-16-2007, 09:29 PM Our treatment plan consists of going 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Then i am not sure what the routine will be. he will reevaulate and then we will see. i am liking a happier baby and less laundry!!
ANNIE 03-16-2007, 09:33 PM Allana had 5 sessions, one a week, when she was 2months old. The Chiro said her hips were out and her upper back. Unfortunately once she was corrected she was no better. She cried during her sessions and was much worse that night too. So glad its working for you, i do believe the stress of birth can throw out their bodies which needs to be corrected. As she explained to me, if your spine is out, it effects the central nervous system which effects the whole body (digestion etc).
Yvette 03-16-2007, 09:43 PM We had our first chiro appt yesterday but I will put the full story in updates as there is quite a bit to tell. At the moment we will be going weekly but not sure how long for.
Debbie 03-16-2007, 10:41 PM I would be very concerned about a baby being in any kind of pain when being seen by a Chiro...they should never feel any pain....the adjustments should be gentle message movements nothing aggressive ever.
hpaterniti 03-17-2007, 09:36 PM I have taken my daughter a few times and I really need her to go back again, but I have not been diligent about it and need to be. I know that when I go it really does help me, but I have been pretty lazy about it. It is weird how this really does work maybe not for everything. You ladies have inspired me to start back up again.
