I've been having back pain since Saturday that started out as just an ache like I had slept on it wrong. It has now developed into muscle spasms and kind of a pinched nerve feeling. They come and go, but when they come...whew! It's like having contractions in my upper back every 10 seconds and sometimes it even "cripples" me. It's even make me feel queasy at times. I had extreme back pain during my pregnancy and had a really rough time AFTERwards with a pinched nerve feeling. I wonder if it has anything to do with having a big baby or the anesthesia I got in the hospital. :smt105

Sooo...I've made an appt. with a chiropractor for the first time EVER! I have no idea what to even expect and I'm a bit nervous. I didn't think I would get in so quickly, but I am going at 2:30 this afternoon! The lady told me they would do x-rays, an examination, and treatment all in the same day. Is he gonna put me on some torture device and straighten my back or something? LOL

I went to a Chiro a few months ago for the first time....some of the stuff they do is kinda odd, but I sure felt better after!

Hope you can get some relief! Don't be surprised if it takes a few visits to really feel better, though.

I used to go the chiro for my cervical neck and should get my butt in there because the joy that was back labor totally screwed me up. Actually, it's pretty common to get back problems w/ a pregnancy and with labor. Think about it for about six months you have horrible posture, you give birth on your back for x amount of hours and then carry a baby around for 18 years ;) They'll just adjust you and it feels SOOOO good!! I loved it!! Miori is right, it'll take a few session to really see some improvement, but the important thing is to be consistent. Good luck!!

I have never been - let me know how it goes. I have considered it for my migranes???

That was a bit odd. I went in, did a brief history and told him the problems I was having, then he felt my back and neck. He said my back was a bit stiff, but my neck was worse. He was surprised I wasn't complaining of neck pain. So off we went to x-rays and he took like 5 or so. Went to view the x-rays and surprisingly my back was fine. It's my neck that's messed up. It's supposed to curve one way and mine is the opposite. LOL

Also supposed to have these little nodules centered all the way up and the one at the very top was off center. He said that was the cause of all my headaches, backache, and everything. He compared the curve to a poster on the wall and it was definitely different, but I'm going to look online just to make sure I'm not being messed with.

Then I laid face down on the table and he popped my back into place in several spots and "adjusted" my neck with this metal thingy. Next I went to another room where I was laid down on a table that went back and forth over some big rollers to massage my back. It was odd, but not a bad feeling. Once that was complete I was good to go. The thing is, he said your muscle around these joints is like memory foam. Once he moves them, they are going to pop right back into place by the time you get home. So we have to keep making adjustments I guess until my body is used to them being in the right place. I don't know how long that will take or how many times that will require me to return for "maintenance".

I have to go back tomorrow at 5pm. My main concern is whether or not I have to pay the copay every time I return. If I do, then there's no way I can justify continuing to go see this guy even though I know I have a problem. As of right now, still having back pain and kinda sore, but he told me I wouldn't see results right away. Just that I shouldn't feel any worse and if I did, to call his cell phone tonight.

Is your insurance paying for the visits? yep - a copay every time could rack up the $$$$.

Do you think you feel better all ready?

I thought my copay would be $50, but it was $20. So that's good, but I think it's only for up to 12 visits. If they bill me every time I go in for an adjustment, then that may only be a month from now. Yikes! LOL X-rays and everything are covered, so I won't have to pay any more out of pocket. Yay!

I've never been either, but I know I need to go. My left arm is my plate and baby carrying arm, and I can tell I've put my whole back out of whack...I feel like I'm 90 most of the time! Plus, w/ Ava's sleeping back in the badlands (the sweet little thing unfortunately wriggles around until she falls asleep sideways in our bed...we do this like 4 times a night...AGAIN!!!), my back is just killing me.

So, do you think it was worth it????

Based on the first visit, not really. LOL If it improves over the next several visits, then I'm sure I would. And if it will help me to change some of my habits so that it doesn't happen again, I will be all for it.

Ohohoo Emily, we know the real reason you love it :evil4: How is Mister Hotpants?

But seriously, I love going. I've been going since Ava was born. My lower back hurts a lot and my neck is screwd up. I go once every two weeks now and I feel the need once two weeks is up.
So, may be it will feel better over time, Amanda. It should. KEep us posted. I want to know how you feel.

I have felt horrible tonight. I know he said the pain shouldn't get any worse and to call him if I needed to, but I didn't want him to tell me to come back in. LOL I'll be going back tomorrow anyway. But as for the back pain coming and going...not anymore. It's now constant. :sad2: I've taken 2 Advil and a Vicodin and my back STILL hurts. Wth? Must have inflammed tissue that got made worse from him poking around? I have a script for some muscle relaxers I got from my dentist for TMJ that I never filled, but not sure if it's still good now.

It could be that you were so out of whack, that now that it's in place, it hurts, you got used to dealing and walking and doing everything with it being out of wack. KWIM?
I say, keep going. I firmly believe in them, and yes... Ella... Mr Hotpants is still hot. :evil4: :love7: ROFL... thanks for reminding EVERYONE. lol lol lol
And even Gabby now likes his son. ROFL... she is a smart girl. :smt036

Good point and you're probably right. I remember how bad my back hurt during this past pregnancy. It was unbearable, but I never thought there was anything I could do about it. Was funny after I left there, every time I moved for the next 2 hours I could hear my back popping. LOL I'm willing to give anything a try though. I just hope I'm not going to get charged every single visit because we honestly can't afford it. We've been out a ton of money this year on medical bills and prescriptions already. :(
