Iain is eating again, and one of his favourites is a cereal called Fruity O's. They are like Froot Loops.

So, he ate a bowl of them this morning, skipped snack, skipped lunch, ate a half cookie for second snack, ignored dinner. Pretty normal for him when he does eat.

About a half hour ago he went into the cupboard and pulled out a bowl full of them and disappeared into the living room. :smt041 I was in the kitchen working for a bit and heard him crunching away and I mean CRUNCHING in the living room. I went about my merry way and was thrilled that he knew to get it himself and that he was obviously eating them.

About 5 minutes later he came in for another bowl. Filled it to overflowing and took off again. Same thing, there he was in the living room and I heard CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH! I looked around the corner and he was on the floor with the bowl, picking up a few he had dropped. Interesting. He has never eaten that much before.:smt108 The phone rang and I got caught up with that and forgot to go and check on him.

5 minutes ago he came in to get one more freaking ginormous overflowing heaping bowl full of them and disappeared into the living room. :smt104 This kid would not eat that much food in a week, let alone a day so I know something is up. I waited for the CRUNCH! to start and found him happily sitting on the floor feeding our dog Jenny the fruity o's one by one.:jaw-dropping: (I checked his mouth, much to his chagrin and rather vociferous protestations, and there is no sign of fruity O's in there:? ). Man, that dog loves this kid! I asked the other two and Iain had done that both times before. When I asked why they did not tell me, they responded that often Iain shares his snacks with Jenny. Great. Sure explains why she is looking rather plump these days! I have been cutting back a bit on her food and griping to Bill that she needs more walking, even though it is freezing cold here these days.

**wonders if the dog has been fed the prevacid Iain is supposed to take in the morning. Takes solace in knowing any reflux issues in the dog are likely moot**

Egad.

Well ... it didn't end up like you thought it would, but I'm pretty darn impressed he pours his own cereal!!! My 11yo can't always manage that without spilling everywhere!

:haha: well, at least your dog is getting Fruity o's. :smt036

Our dogs love to stand by Jack's highchair, he feeds them his food all the time, one by one, one for Stella, one for Madison. :evil4:

It is rather wonderful that he is taking strides in now feeding something else, even if it is the dog. I will view this as a progression forward.:smt036 It is a social skill and I will have to ask if this will give him a checkmark in the pretend play area he seems to be missing... or maybe empathy? rofl

Make no mistake, Iain does not pour his own bowl of cereal. In my cupboard, or more of a pantry, I have a few containers in there that open on the top and you can reach in for cereal or pour from the container. They are at the perfect height for the boys as I put the shelf down lower. It makes it easier for the other two to pour and keeps the cereal fresher I find and also allows me to have variety as I have no room for all of it otherwise. He just opens the flap, reaches in and pulls out the cereal as his hands are small enough to do so. And I never said there was no mess. I should drag the lard of a dog into the kitchen to clean that up, but she is sound asleep right now and rather content. lol I got it already.

She loves to jump up to Iain's booster seat to "clean up" after meals. It makes me rather sick when she does that, but I have grown used to it and find it does kind of help, especially on messy days. Then I just clean afterwards anyway.

ROFL, Leigh! :rolling: Raleigh is our "cleanup crew" and we had also noticed her plumping up nicely (dh is always threatening to sell her to the Chinese buffet). Sure enough, most of Ava's food goes straight to the most well-fed dog in Sarasota County. Raleigh and Sanchez will both eat ANYTHING...including broccoli, green beans, and tomatoes...neither one will touch banana though!

LOL ... Catherine opens up the child-proofed cabinet and then walks around with the raisin bran box, dropping a trail of raisins behind her and the dog gobbling them up as fast as she drops them.

Seems like we all have happy dogs! We should do a poll to see how many GERDlings have plump doggies. :haha:

LMBO...!!!!!!
Still...LOL
That is hysterical...you have one happy dog......Fruity O's this cracks me up:haha:
Our dog sits right next to the high chair waiting for anything to drop.....today I was tossing grapes to the dog (Jayden wasn't eating them) but Jayden thought it was belly giggle worthy as the dog jumped for them...not much got into Jaydens tummy but he had a good show.
