I have to start of byt saying love her OT she is so nice and realy good with miki we have been seeing her weeky and she has been documenting everything for us which is great, she had her assesmant 6 weeks ago and miki had made progress since than but the last few weeks none at all i have noticed she has gone backwards with her reflux and seems to be realy unsure and uncomfortable with everything

We had an appointment this morning i didnt mention whatr i had noticed to the ot as i wanted to see whatr she made of it during the sesion and after about 5 minutes she brought it up and asked how her feeding and reflux was going and i said not to well and she had thought that as her development has started to slide again she wouldnt do any activitys wouldnt lie on her tummy or any thing and in the whole sesion she only atemted to put one thing in her mouth and she touched her tongue with it and gagged and threw the it which is sad as in the past she was starting to put them in her mouth a lots she also kept moving her handsfunny to get the play dough of them aftyetr she had touched it

she also refluxed the whole time :sad5:

Amy - it sounds like you really like your OT and it sounds like she is very observant and aware of what reflux can do to babies.

I hope things get better!

It is so hard to see them go backwards. I hope she will be feeling better soon, so she can get back on track.

Amy, I'm sorry that she is going backwards, but, like someone else said, at least you have a good OT. (((((HUGS))))) I'm so so sorry. Poor Miki.

short post - gotta get to bed....the backwards thing is normal (though upsetting) if her reflux is flaring she will be more gaggy, less willing to put stuff in her mouth and hypersensitive to stuff...we have seen this with Max...part of the rollercoaster. Hope she turns around soon.

Glad your OT is good!

best wishes.

Amy - I am so sorry to hear that Miki is still refluxing and it is affecting her development. I am really glad that you like your OT that will make all the difference in the world- E's drives me crazy- everytime she comes to the house she tells me something to worry about. And googling is so scary. . .

Amy I am only just seeing this, I am so sorry to hear that the OT session was a bust, but the OT herself sounds like she is really with it, and hopefully the next appointment will be better.

I am late on this as well. Sorry.

It is hard when you have an appointment go backwards, but sometimes that happens. Do not worry about it yet as it sounds like your OT is on top of it. That is more than half the battle right there! I have always found that anyway.

How often do you see your OT? And what is she working on with Miki?

As far as the mouthing goes, Iain totally missed that stage. A few days ago he put his fingers in his mouth and I stopped in my tracks. He never does that. I mean ever. It is just odd to see when they do put something in their mouth.

Look at the bright side, you can worry less about choking hazzards as I did! ;) Just kidding.

May your next appointment be better. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. Be sure to remind me of this as we start therapies again soon with Iain. :)

thanks guys
leigh she sees the OT once a fortnight now and the fortnightly only i would like to get her in more but at the moment she is being seen privately by both of them and its very expensivee along with all her other health problems but she has been refered to the special kids program and which is same as early intervention but for the special needs or priority patients so the wait will only be around 2 months OT and 1 month hopefuly for physio

we are working on her muscle stragth in her arms and legs and also her pointing and playing skils as she has touble concentrating

the physio is going to concentrate on her legs as they are bent from the knees down and she stands on her side of her foot with help doesnt tippy toe like she should aparently they ment to tipee tpoes them flat foot but she side foots and her legs fold in i think she is good but they dont

and the FT is working on feeding and sensory issues which i didnt know she had
