Yesterday when I brought Emma to the ped, Jason had to come with due to lack of a sitter for him. I brought them both in with the stroller and....Jason sat in the stroller CALMLY while eating puffs for about one hour. I had to occassionally wheel the stroller, but he sat!!!!!
And today, the OT even noticed that he was a bit calmer (but we weren't sure if that was because he woke up from his nap about 5 minutes before therapy).
I started giving him some cod liver oil...I pierce a capsule and add it to his morning bottle of milk. I forgot where I read that omega oils can help with SI....so I'm not sure if it is that or that the therapy is starting to help him cope
Now if I could just get him to sit and "play" at home instead of wandering around like a lost gypsy!!!

Fantastic. Who cares which it is, as long as it works...whatever it is.:yahoo:
Omega oils w/ SI, I never heard of that. Very interesting.
How is Emma, was it just a regular checkup?

Another ear infection...her fever went up to 104 and I freaked...she's never had that high of a fever so I called the ped and got in. So she is once again on augmentin (at least she'll be regular and won't need the lactulose to move her bm's) and on benadryl. This poor girl needs a break in the medical dept.....mid March we are going to see the surgeon about setting a date for her hernia operation (would love to have it all done by bikini season for her!).

LOL Jane! Glad to see you keeping your sense of humor.
I hope Emma feels better soon, fevers that high are scary, Dylan got up to 103.6 once and that really scared me as he almost never gets a fever, not w/teething or anything. It was apparently a virus, I thought for sure an EI, b/c Keegan's had two EI's and alway spiked a fever, but even then, not higher than 102.5 or so.
Anyway, that's great news about Jason. Man, my kids don't have SI issues and I highly doubt I could get either of them to sit for an hour in their stroller quietly and eat Puffs while I am busy w/the other! I hope he continues to improve! Have you posted any recent pics that I may have missed since I have been MIA lately? I'd love to see how they've grown!

SI is for sensory integration disorder. The brain is not able to handle incoming information. In Jason's case, it seems that the only way his brain can operate is by constantly (yes, I mean constant) movement, walking, running, up the stairs, pick up one toy, go to another without really any playing with one toy.
He also has some texture issues ... he cannot handle "slimy" things, like pudding, noodles with sauce, etc, or things too rough (toast, breaded meats, etc).
I believe there is a sticky on the top of this thread that explains sensory integration better than I am.

I posted some pics from their birthday party....I'll have to see if I could find them and upload some pics. We've got to take them for their 1 yr photo session shoot.....yes, I'm running a little behind in schedule. Need to make sure they don't have anything running out of their noses for the photos.
