Graham,

My 2yo daughter was put on Axid a little over a month ago; she'd been on Prevacid the prior 18 months and Prilosec before that. She takes 2ml of 15mg/ml liquid twice a day. It seemed like our miracle cure, and she was *finally* sleeping through the night for the first time in her life. She would take the medicine, which I was syringing into her mouth, but then walk around and say "yucky" for five minutes thereafter. About a week ago, I guess she decided she'd had enough of the nasty-tasting stuff so she started spitting it back out at me despite my best efforts to hold her mouth closed after fighting her to just get it in her mouth. She is no longer sleeping through the night and is back to crying out many, many times, just like she's done her entire life except forthe aforementioned three weeks. I don't know if it's because I'm not getting enough medication down her at bedtime or if it's something else going on.

My question is ... can Axid be mixed with any liquid to cover up the taste? Juices, milk, etc? I can't find any info that say it can only be mixed with certain things (like Prevacid in applesauce) or shouldn't be mixed at all. I guess the better question is this -- is there anything Axid absolutely should not be mixed with?

Thanks.

Lesley, aside from apple juice and xanthine containing foods (caffeine -cola, chocolate, coffee, tea, etc.), you are free to give the axid with almost anything. Cold things work better to hide taste, like ice cream or something sweet like jam.
