Notification Regarding Animated Signature Lines

IRD is growing by leaps and bounds! As the site grows the need for increased bandwith also grows. To provide a valuable resource such as IRD is not without considerable cost. Until now, the price for many perks has been absorbed by the site, but animated signature lines can no longer be supported at the basic membership level.

Effective February 28th, 2007, animated signatures will be available for Platinum Members only.

What does this mean, exactly?

It means as of February 28th, 2007 only Platinum Members may have animated signatures.

What about animated avatars?

Animated Avatars are already a Platinum Members only perk.

Why now?

Costs increase as bandwith requirements increase. Animated avatars and signature lines require much more bandwith than non-animated ones. IRD has absorbed the costs up until now. There are still MANY free perks for basic membership.

I already have an animated siggy line and I am not a Platinum Member. What does this mean for me?

Current animated signature lines will be "Grandfathered". That means, should you stay a basic member and want to keep your current animated siggy line exactly as it is, you can without any problem. Should you wish to change your animated siggy line in any way, update it, or change it to another animated siggy line, you will have to become a Platinum Member though.

How do I become a Platinum Member?

Is this common practice?

Yes, it is very common. Rarely do boards as large as IRD offer as many free perks as IRD does. In fact, many boards charge for members to access useful areas of thier site and some charge just to be able to even post on thier site. :sad3:

However, IRD will ALWAYS provide access to all areas of the site designed to help you cope with and learn about infant reflux without charge. :yahoo:

If I chose to remain a basic member, what does that mean?

It means you are able to continue to access and be able to post on the most knowledgeable, most trusted, and most comprehensive site for pediatric GERD available as you always have. :yahoo:

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask them. :)
