We have seen our SLP several times, for several MBS' and we are going to start weekly with speech/feed therapies.
My DS is a year on saturday (2-10) (OMG i'm still tripping out over that LOL)
He says nothing. he is silent 100% of the time. I'm not TOOO terribly worried about it, because he's only 1, but at the same time, when is it crunch time to worry?
His SLP wants to work on feeds, morso than speech. I'm fine with that, because the kid needs to learn to eat!
He's around language 100% of his day. Me, Dad, and his older (almost 3) bro!
any thoughts?

Very few 12mo have significant spoken language skills. At 18mo, my daughter had one word, "mama," and it was just a sound she used. She didn't mean me. She really didn't even babble (which requires use of consonant sounds; all vowel sounds is cooing.) Early Intervention evaluated her, and she qualified for ST and OT. A 12mo with no spoken words probably wouldn't raise any eyebrows.

Exactly what Lesley said! My daughter was evaluated at 18 months (they said it was pointless before that since there is no expectation) and she too only had one sound "dah" and "dah" was everything! She gets Speech therapy twice a week now and has a few more words now... but we've also discovered she has some apraxia(sp?) which is where the muscles arent doing what they should... so we are doing PROMPT to try to make her aware of her facial muscles to help her form words. K also didnt really babble much either.

Joshua said nothing at one year as well. We were actually going to have his hearing eval'd at 17 months when the ENT told us it was more likely reflux he was suffering from. Really threw me for a loop. Since starting Prevacid (one month ago) he has starting making attempts at talking. The other day he actually said "Backpack." (He obviously watches too much Dora w/ his big sister). Still only says a few words (funny that one of them is backpack), but we have made great strides in a short amount of time. He'll come around for you in time too!
