The new gi suspects the boys have DGE and perscribed reglan but it was a no go the boys developed some of the neuro side effects so we had to stop the first day they were on it so no luck there. But I notice that they always seem like they are still full when they wake up in the mornings. I give them a bottle at 10pm so they can catch up on their ozs for the day but when they wake up in the morning they really don't want a bottle. If they do take one they only drink a few ozs. So last night I didn't give the 10pm bottle and they still slept through the night and in the morning Josh drank 5.5ozs when he normally only drinks 0-3ozs and Brenden drank 4 ozs about normal for him maybe a little more. Once they have been up a couple of hours during the day and have been moving around they get some what of an appitite through out the day is this normal for dge?

DGE is continuous and does not come and go. It can mean that they will eat one meal and not be interested in the next one or that they are much more comfy with small and frequent meals. You will have to look at what time they are eating and how much each feed is. You might see that they are taking in a good amount throughout the day after all. Keep a log of it for a few days to a week to see for sure.

I am sorry to hear that the reglan did not work. It is not for everyone. :( What is the next step according to the GI?

I left a message for the gi on friday but they close the office early on fridays so I'm hoping to hear back on monday. I do keep a feeding log and I've noticed that the later the boys eat at night the less they eat in the morning. They usually wake up between 6 and 7 am and I give a bottle when they wake up if they are still groggy they eat really well if they are fully awake then we have a really hard time getting anything in them. Then they have breakfast about an hour later and then they don't want anything until around noon. They take a bottle at noon and another at 3 have dinner at 4:30 and another bottle at bedtime 7pm. Thats only 4 bottles a day and they won't drink more than 5 ozs at a time usually less 3-4ozs. So the 10pm dream feed is a must so they are getting near the minimum number of ozs for the day. They seem to cluster feed as the day goes on. But its the fullness in the am thats killing us. They will go 6 hours between the wakeup bottle and their next bottle. Thats what made the gi suspect dge.

It sure sounds like it could be DGE, but it could also just be reflux. Are they spitting up at all in the morning? And ifyou get a good feed into them in the morning will they still eat at noon? I can see why you want that 10 pm feed. Can you plunk it in and have them take it once they are sleeping? I know it must be hard to do that with twins.

I hope the GI has a gameplan for you this week.

They are no longer spitting up. Thats been under control for a while but I thinks its because they only eat between 3-5ozs a feed not really enough to spit up. If they do take a good bottle in the morning they still take a bottle at noon but they won't cry for it. I have to give it to them. If they haven't drank that much in the morning then they are really fussy at noon. But not til it hits noon on the dot, its like they can tell time or something. Last night I gave them the bedtime bottle at like 6:15 and 6:30pm because they were really tired, rubbing their faces and yawning. Then I gave them the dream feed at 9pm instead of 10. They took about 5.5 ozs each, thats pretty normal for Brenden at the dream feed but Josh will normally take between 6-7ozs at a dream feed he is a deeper sleeper than Brenden. But I think he was still kinda full from the bedtime bottle. It seems like at the end of the day all I'm doing is these little meals til bedtime. I'm still waiting for the gi to call back. If I don't hear anything by lunchtime I'm gonna call again.
