Another question for you all....Please explain about the supplements that you give your children, those that use them anyway..I have read a few things here that they really have helped some of your kiddos...Were these recommended by your pediatrician? Are they a prescription thing? Do they come in liquid form? And what benefits have you noticed from using them? Thank You, Tish

Izzy takes probiotics when ever she has bouts of diarrhea. Its not prescription but is behind the counter because they are refrigerated. (at least the ones Izzy takes are) Just ask the pharmacist for them they will know exactly what your talking about. They work well to ward off diarreah when a baby/kid is on antibiotics. Yogurt with live bacteria is basically the same thing. One thing though the kind Izzy takes is milk based so if milk is a nono it might not be good for you. They come in packets...sort of a crumbly powder that you can sprinkle in food. I dont know if they also come in a liquid form.

I've also been told that you can get them at the Health Food stores.

You might want to search the forum and see what you find. I know this topic has come up several times before.

Em, Connor use to take them for quite a while. He is MSPI so we had to make sure his were dairy/soy free. I always got his at the health food store. I think it is by Solaray. Connor's Ped actually told me to put him on Culterelle today to help with the diarrhea. I told her though that it had Dairy:wink: and I had a different one we use:D

We use baby dophilus when Daniel is on an antibiotic, but I've heard it recommended for regular use as well. Ours was a powder that I mixed into his purees in the old days and now I mix into his formula, and it just runs through his tube.
