Hi--
The GI doctor we see has always told me that the reflux and MSPI will more than likely both be outgrown by 1 year of age. My ds has been on Isomil soy formula since 3 weeks of age. THe GI told me if the reflux meds do the trick for his symptoms then we don't need to switch the formula. The reflux meds (Axid and Carafate) always made a difference for the better so we have agreed that we don't need to change his formula to hypoallergenic. Here's the question. If he really does have MSPI am I putting in jeopardy his body's ability to outgrow it by keeping him on soy formula? WHile I do feel he is under decent control with his meds he still does have some breakthrough periods--mostly in the form of bottle fussiness and night wakings. The one time we tried a switch over to hypo formula he got really bad with his bottle aversion and I could hardly get him to drink--back to soy and he was fine--I guess that's the reason we think he is okay with soy. Any thoughts would be appreciated--sorry so long!
Thanks,
Heather
