FDA Proposal for Celiac Disease
(WVLT) - Under a new FDA proposal, certain foods made without a protein found in barley, rye and wheat could be labeled "gluten-free."
The labeling would be an effort to help those with celiac disease, in which gluten can cause an immune response that damages the small intestine.

The FDA is inviting public comment on the proposal in the next 90 days.
