Hi
What are your thoughts regarding ELISA?
My ds is 3yrs old and I believe he has several food intolerances though he tested neg to the top 8 (very minor reaction to RYE)
I am at my witts end after seeing several GI's, ENT's and allergists....I was looking into this test and have heard mixed reviews
Thanks for your feedback
Kim

Hi,
Elisa tests can test for many things. It is a testing system, not a specific test. Example would be an Elisa test for gluten antibodies, or something like that. Elisa tests are generally reliable but I'm not sure what is proposed to be tested. Give me some more info and I'll be happy to help.
Good luck, Dr. Olson

Thank-you Dr Olsen
I guess what I am looking for is some help figuring out my son's food intolerances
He seems to react (with GI issues) to many foods
BUT even on a strict gluten, dairy, soy free diet he has days when he is in pain etc and I can't figure out what could have triggered it
He literally has a Dr Jekyl/My Hyde personality...when he isn't feeling good, he will tell me a million times he has to go potty (poop) but once we get to the potty he says he doesn't have to go...he also gets gassy etc
I was told because of his age (3yrs) and his reaction, mostly GI....the skin allergy test and RAST are unreliable
I'm thinking just maybe he is intolerant to something unusual like yeast, etc and was looking for some type of test that might be able to help us figure things out...
Any information appreciated!
Hope this all made sense :)
