Am I giving her too many? scarlet 01-10-2007, 04:38 AM I think it depends on what she is eating, if it is nothing I would stick to the 6 feeds, but I would say 4 would be about right at her age as long as she is getting other food in as well. Renata 02-05-2007, 12:46 PM Hmmm I think I was feeding 3 times a day at that point with my older two, but they were eating well by that point and sleeping through. I ditto Scarlet, it depends on whether she's getting calories from elsewhere! Lori 02-05-2007, 01:09 PM Gosh, Nik, I don't breastfeed, so I don't know. Brenna's 7 1/2 months old and she eats 4 bottles and 2 meals of solids per day. Do you think she's doing it so often to comfort herself? cariberry77 02-08-2007, 01:01 AM Hi Nik: I'm surprised by reading these posts because I think maybe I'm feeding more often than the average parent. No wonder I feel like a dairy cow!!! Roman eats about every 2 hours - day and night - so I'm feeding between 10 and 12 times a day. He used to eat every 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours so I thought we were doing good. He is not getting calories anywhere else because he refuses formula supplements and reacted to both rice and oat cereal with severe vomiting when we tried them. It's so hard to tell with breastfeeding how much he's getting in each feed, so it's hard to determine how often is too often - or not enough. But I say if you're feeding 4 to 6 times daily and Naomi seems content with that, you're probably on the right track. I'm definitely going to bring up Roman's eating habits with the GI doc on Monday though since it seems like he's eating too often!!! nikkib 02-08-2007, 03:05 AM this is so funny, as I posted that post about a month ago and i didn't expect a reply now, but she is now only on 3 breastfeeds, breakky lunch and bedtime, so its ok now. everynow and then i give her a snack of the breast if she likes as I love the bonding.... he he he... cariberry77 02-08-2007, 05:45 PM OMG, I don't even look at the posted dates when I'm on here. I just get so caught up in reading and responding - I guess I got carried away!!!! LOL! Well I'm glad to hear that you worked this out. |
