I know many of us our frustrated with our little ones freaking with winter clothing. I have bought and returned 8 snowsuits, 3 pairs of boots, 4 pairs of mits and many hats. I finally found stuff that does not freak her out completley.

I just wanted to let you know that they are not just being difficult- it hurts them. The first thing I do when i come home is take off my clothes and put on pjs. Many days, i put on a shirt andhave to take it off cause it hurts. My DH thinks i am nuts. It feels like it weights a ton and it actually hurts. And some tags drive me nuts, and i cant forget about it- over time, it gets worse and worse

I have been sooo frustrated, and my mom keeps saying - you just have to force her to get used to it. Yes they have to wear clothes, but being sensitive and compassionate to the issues have helped.

Lately, i have dressed her up without much of a fuss- because she is now comfortable in her mismatched clothes. I started the winter with all pink stuff- now she looks ridiculous but is comfortable.

I think the heaviness of most of the clothing, and the rigidity too, makes it tough. I found a kushies onesie fleeced suit that is wonderful. No it wont protect her in -40 weather, but thank God for the warm weather.

Good luck to all you moms this winter

Jo ... for this reason, I am so thankful that I live where it's warm most of the year. Catherine would be much happier running around naked! As it is, we get by with thin cotton knits most of the time.

I am like that with things on my neck. I can not have anything even close to my neck or I feel like it is swelling shut and can’t swallow or breath well.

I don't think Daniel has issues with his clothes, but still we had trouble getting Daniel into his winter coat earlier this year. He'd put it on, then insist on taking it off in the car, and then we'd have to struggle to get him into it when we arrived at our destination.

But then when it got really cold and we got our snow, he refuses to go out (even when it's pushing 50 degrees) without wearing his mittens and hat and having his coat zipped.

But, like I said, I don't think it's sensory -- he's just stubborn. to you all dealing with bigger issues.

Jojo, I completely understand. My boyfriend ALWAYS tears all the labels out of his shirts and rips them and they all have holes in them. I know they sell many shirts now with no labels.

Katey, I know what you mean about the neck thing. I always liked turtle necks. Then one day recently I put on a tight necked sweater and actually started to gag. I had to take it off quick!

My boyfriend also cannot stand the sound of the vacuum. With me, it is the sound of the fan in the bathroom. I hate it!

I had read that book a long time ago and it really opened my eyes. We actually have it as recommended reading in our book:

The Out of Sync Child - Recognizing and Coping with Sensory Intergration Dysfunction
