Oh dear, I think I just gave my 6 week old an overdose of Maalox!

I tried to buy Mylanta Supreme but that does not seem to be available in Canada, so we got Maalox Extra Strength.

I gave Max 2ml. He is almost 12lbs and 6 weeks old.

Now reading further on the boards it seems that for his weight I should only have given him 1ml of REGULAR strength Maalox. So have I given him 4 times what his dose should have been? I am shaking I feel so bad, what will this do to him?

This was not recommended by his doctor, I was just trying to soothe the poor baby who was crying and refluxing non-stop and I thought from my reading here that 2ml was the appropriate dose.

hi , sorry for the late reply. 2ml instead of 1 for a 1 time dose shouldn't be a cause for panic. maybe some stomach upset like diarhea or constipation. It happens, just double check b-4 each dose.
