My son is 17 months old and has a Bard G-Button. He was originally on 15 mg Prevacid solutab BID, but that was increased by 50%. He did not like taking the solutabs, and he does have food aversions and will not usually take a cup or bottle. He now has a stomach virus, the pediatrician thinks, and when I give him the Prevacid by mouth, he volits shortly afterward. I have asked to have it compounded because when we dilute it to go through the g-tube, it gets all stuck no matter how much I dilute, shake, wait, etc. The pharmacist here says it costs much, much more to have it compounded, and he also stated, as you did in other posts, that it is only stable for about 14 days. The 14 days isn't a problem, and neither is the cost since my son's comfort and health are paramount, but I am wondering if there are other options. A home health nurse mentioned Prilosec, adn the pediatrician mentioned Zantac. My son isn't refluxing much on just liquids. Solids are the problem. We haven't started them back yet as his g-button surgery was only 3 weeks ago and we are letting him heal and forget about the pain from foods. Advice??/
