My 3 month old tends to turn his head so that his head is turned away from the nipple (yet its in his mouth) rather than facing the nipploe while nursing. Its really quite uncomfortable for me, and has been forcing me to keep my hand under his head so he can't turn his head as far. Have any of you been thru this? Do you think this has to do with his reflux or is it just some odd nursing habit that I need to work on? This is different from the general twisting and turning he tends to do nearer the end of a feeding when he is uncomfortable since this starts at the very beginning of a feeding. (I know this isn't related to milk supply since he does this regardless of time of day and amount of milk flow that I can perceive.) Thanks! Stephanie

Ya know, I can't really say that it's reflux related...Ava used to do something like that when she was trying to get away from the breast if she was uncomfortable, but fortunately for me, she would let go! That must kinda hurt!

What nursing position are you using? We just stopped nursing about 3 weeks ago, and I always used to have her almost upright on the arm of the couch...to lessen the chance of "showers". Maybe a change in position would help?

My daugter is 12 weeks and she's been doing that lately too. I feel like my nipples are longer now from all the tugging! Let me know if you find anything out.

Do they always turn their head to the same side. Henry was bottle fed but was always more comfortable eating with his head turned to the left. I am not sure if this is the same thing or not.
