As per our recent conversation you mentioned liver function. Naomi's liver function when first starting erythromycin 5 1/2 months ago within 2 days was very high.This has since normalised when they tested her a month later. She was also on the zantac then. is it only erythromycin that would cause high liver function, or could all the other meds in combination do also and what side effects would this cause to her? is this dangerous? Why would erythromycin do this? Sorry about the long answer, but thanks to your response to my other question regarding the losec and zantac. I think that she works well on both, with her reflux but am not sure about the other side effects that the zantac causes for her. ie. constipation.

About the 20mg losec, this is split into 10mg morning and night!, not 20mg in one hit.

Hi, the body eliminates erythromycin via the liver so for someone predisposed to having problems with the liver because of this extra load, it can cause problems. Remember this is very rare, just if you take it every day for months at a time it is a good idea to check the lft's every now and again. Her other meds are fine and the tests change for no reason from time to time. Just remember the liver function tests are a good marker way before anything goes wrong with the liver.
