View Full Version : Bath time? MySillyBoys 12-16-2006, 09:24 PM I want to know how you gals deal with bath time. Nathan's bath time is NO good. He just sucks in the water, and obviously thats not good. Ive tried everything, sponge baths, NOT washing him, Ugh, what do you gals do? Christine 12-16-2006, 09:50 PM Sorry - no help here - Henry loves his bath. Good luck - I hope someone chimes in. MySillyBoys 12-16-2006, 09:52 PM Ugh. Sorry, but in your sig, Nutramigen is spelled wrong. ;) Thanks tho. Nathan likes his also, but i cannot avoid getting water on his face. :( Minnie 12-16-2006, 10:27 PM Eric is the same way! Weirdo won't drink at all most days but he'll try to drown himself into a choking, hiccup frenzy in the tub. The little nut. So frustrating! Nothing like making yourself sick right before bed. I tell him not to do it and remind him through the whole bath not to. and I even made up a song about how bath water is yucky and I sing it through the whole bath. I try to catch him before he does it and ask "Do you want a drink?" "no" "then don't do that". If he says "yes" then I have a cup ready for him. I try to keep him busy with toys and be a fast as I can. I rotate his toys so they always feel new and I buy new bath toys regularly, and even add some stuff from the kitchen sometimes. I also changed his bath time to earlier in the day so he has time to recoup (if he needs too) before bed. Eric's getting better about it and our bath time is able to last a little longer now. I'm hoping by age 15 it will no longer be a problem. ;) MySillyBoys 12-16-2006, 11:14 PM Hmm perhaps i didnt word it correctly. :) Nathan doesnt drink the water. when i pour it over his head, he breaths in real fast, and sucks in the little amount of water that he can. Thus leading to aspiration. :( I was wondering how to deal with that.. Anywho, I noticed you had a Ticker for Eric's Choking. What causes that for him? I found this: http://www.onestepahead.com/product/86186/442788/117.html#reviews Anyone use that? Minnie 12-17-2006, 07:35 AM OHHHHHHH! LMBO! I'm sorry. For that I have finally convinced Eric to look up when I rinse. Your guy may be too small to get that one. That product looks like it MIGHT work, but I almost think getting one of those bath time visors would be a whole lot better. I know lot's of people who have used those. LOL I'm so sorry I didn't get it, and that I'm laughing so much about it. Geeze what a stupid head I am Aim 12-17-2006, 11:20 AM How about using a wet washcloth and squeezing it over his head (so you can have more control over the flow) to rinse his head? That's what I do with Michael and haven't gotten a drop of water on his face once yet. Miori 12-17-2006, 01:47 PM We have that rinse cup for Josh and it works great! :) They carry it at Toys R Us/Babies R Us here so you might check them out too. Amy's washcloth idea was a good one too...or roll the washcloth up, and put it across his forehead so it can catch the water before it rolls down his face. We did that with Josh for a while too. I hope bath time improves for you! It has for us...last night, I just layed Josh down on his back in the tub..he loved it! :) sixdogssixcats 12-17-2006, 02:15 PM I used the rubber visor thing for my son -- from infancy into his toddler years, and it worked great! Catherine is a fish so I've always just dumped water over her head, lol. jojo 12-18-2006, 07:11 PM what rubber visor thing?> I need something for maiya- she hates me washing her hair./ Sorry to butt in sixdogssixcats 12-18-2006, 08:30 PM It's this kind of thing, Jo. Thin, stretchy rubber. http://www.onestepahead.com/product/86186/128/117.html ConnorsMommy 12-18-2006, 08:48 PM I bought that shampoo rinse cup but did'nt like it. Connor is still in his baby bath (he freaks out in the big tub) so I'm still able to lay his head back and wash his hair. Maybe try one of the visors that Lesley was talking about. What a bout one of those little watering cans? That way you would have more control over where the water went. |
