Do you find that your little ones with DGE have problems sleeping? My DD is almost 5 months old, diagnosed with DGE through an Upper GI about a month ago (test also showed pyloric spasm) and has been a terrible sleeper from day one. The ONLY way she will sleep is in her swing. I have tried putting her in her crib elevated, with nests, the whole nine yards and I guess it never worked because that is more treating for reflux? However, she does spit up alot hours after feeds because of the pyloric spasm too so one would think elevation would help.

I also thought the source of her waking up crying was because she wanted to be held so I have even tried cosleeping with her. She is just as uncomfortable in my bed, tosses and turns all night so I know it's not me that she needs necessarily.

What is it about that swing? Does the swinging motion take their mind off the pain?! AND, am I setting myself up for problems down the road or should I just let her be because she is comfortable? This stuff is so confusing...

My daughter is 10 months and sleeps in the swing. She cn sleep in the crib but sleeps better in the swing. Shye also has severe DGE. We found when she got her g-tube though that it helped with the sleeping. I think the swinging motion is just comforting/soothing for them so if/when they start to wake pu they are soothed back to sleep instead of waking fully up. This is just my theory though.

When Grace's motility problems began that was the only way she would sleep as well. And Honestly I got to the point I needed sleep so bad....It did'nt matter.LOL!!!
If the problems continue I would ask the Dr about a GES to see just how bad the DGE is.Our was intially DX through an UGI but what Dr.N (our motility Doc at CHB) explained to me was this was not the best way to know just how bad it was since it is only that moment in time.So in your case a GES would be the next step.
I hope things improve soon!!!
